Trent Roger Temple, 30, of Washington, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington on a charge of simple assault.


Traffic accident

A caller Monday morning in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman reported a car-vs.-deer accident. The vehicle was drivable. The deer was partially in the roadway. An officer responded and removed the deer from the roadway. Documentation was made for insurance purposes. The officer advised the caller to fill out a state accident report if the damage amounted to more than $1,500.

A caller Monday morning in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington reported a traffic accident with no injuries. The caller backed into another vehicle as she exited her driveway. Damages were under $1,500. Information was exchanged. A citation was issued to Melody DeWitt, of Washington, for unsafe backing.

A caller Tuesday morning at Vine Avenue and 180th Street in Ainsworth reported a car-vs.-deer accident, with front-end damage to a Chevrolet pickup. The caller would like a salvage deer tag. An officer responded and issued a deer tag to a Riverside resident.


Traffic stop serious

A caller Monday night at West Jefferson Street and South Avenue B in Washington reported stopping a vehicle. Martin Grant Frazer, 37, of Washington, was cited for driving under suspension, fourth offense.


Traffic other

A caller Monday morning in the 1000 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman requested assistance as they towed a vehicle out of a ditch. There was no damage to the vehicle. An officer responded for traffic control.

A caller Monday evening in the 800 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a vehicle had been parked in front of his residence since Saturday. He had no room for his own vehicle. An officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle, who would get it moved on Tuesday.


Disabled vehicles

An officer reported an occupied disabled vehicle, Monday morning in the 2200 block of Highway 1 in Washington.

A caller Monday morning at North Second Avenue and East Main Street in Washington reported a motorcycle disabled for months. An officer responded and made contact with the owner. A 24-hour tow tag was placed on the vehicle. It was going to be towed the next day if it had not been moved by then.

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Monday afternoon at Highway 1 and 140th Street in Kalona. No one was around the vehicle.

A disabled vehicle was reported Monday night at Highway 218 and 220th Street in Ainsworth. There was no problem. They were changing a diaper.

A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and 130th Street in Riverside reported his vehicle broke down south of Riverside. An officer responded and gave the subject a ride to a convenience store. The vehicle was added to the system.


Animal complaint

A caller Monday morning reported about 25 cows out at 230th Street and Ivy Avenue in West Chester. An officer made contact with the sister of the owner. Her husband and son planned to go out and try to fix the fence.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington reported that a miniature schnauzer was tied to a post in the yard and was wrapped up so it couldn’t move. An officer responded. When he was arriving, the owner was rectifying the situation.


Civil dispute

A caller Monday afternoon in the 800 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington reported harassment. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident was involving the sale of a vehicle. The situation was a civil matter.


Motor vehicle theft

A caller Monday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington reported that someone was attempting to register a vehicle that had been entered as stolen. An officer responded. The information was forwarded to the Burlington Police Department, where the car was reported stolen. The stolen vehicle was not in Washington County.



A caller Monday night in the 600 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton reported she had subjects who needed to be removed from her residence due to drug use. She requested a deputy. Three officers responded. Most subjects were gone upon the officers’ arrival. The rest were asked to leave, and did so.


All other theft

A caller Monday afternoon in the 200 block of Franklin Street in West Chester reported identity theft. An officer spoke with the subject. The information was documented only.


All other offenses

A caller Monday afternoon in the 40 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported trying to retrieve some items, and she was having problems with the male subject. An officer responded. The female was trying to move out. Both were cooperating, and the officer advised the caller to call back if more problems arose.
