Justin Lee Patterson, 38, of Victor, was arrested Wednesday morning at A Avenue and First Street in Kalona on two Mahaska County warrants for sex offender registration violation, second or subsequent offense.

David Dakota Copeland, 24, of Ottumwa, was arrested Thursday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington on warrants from Wapello County and Oakdale for voluntary absence from custody, and for escape from Ottumwa Residential Facility on original charge of forgery.


Traffic other

A caller Wednesday afternoon at First Street and Henry Washington Road in Mount Pleasant reported two vehicles, a Dodge TK and a black SUV, parked on the edge of the road for over a month. They were possibly disabled, and there was no room for them in the yard. An officer was advised and responded. The vehicles were legally parked in the yard and not in the road. There were no problems.


Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a blue Lumina with no plates, Wednesday night at Highway 92 and Highway 1 in Washington. The vehicle was having problems and would be parked in the parking area on G36.


Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of Kleopfer Avenue in Riverside reported an injured opossum under the neighbor’s house. An officer responded and was unable to locate the animal. The officer planned to call the home owners and make them aware it could possibly be there.

A caller Thursday morning in the 2900 block of Coppock Road in Washington reported there was an injured deer lying in the roadway.



A caller Wednesday night in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton reported being harassed by her father. An officer spoke with the caller and advised her to contact an attorney.



A caller Wednesday morning in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported a subject seen in the neighborhood who had a no-trespass order. An officer responded and was unable to locate the subject.
