Traffic accident

Numerous reports were received of a two-car accident blocking traffic, Thursday afternoon at West Madison Street and South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Damage was more than $1,500, and a state report will be filed. Information was exchanged. Sherry Anderson, of Webster City, was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of Ninth Street in Kalona reported a vehicle accident that had happened two hours earlier, and both parties had already left. An officer spoke with the caller. The accident happened on private property. The caller was given the Call for Service number for insurance.

A caller Thursday evening in the 500 block of 13th Street in Wellman reported a hit-and-run accident. The caller did not see the accident occur. There was damage to the driver side door and mirror on his Chevrolet Impala. An officer spoke with the caller. The accident happened on private property. The caller was given the Call for Service number for his insurance company.

A caller Thursday night in the 2000 block of Highway 22 in Kalona reported hitting a deer. There was damage to the front driver side of the vehicle. There were no injuries to the caller, and the whereabouts of the deer were unknown. The vehicle was drivable. The accident was documented.

 

Traffic stop serious

An officer reported being at a traffic stop, Thursday night in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington. A male juvenile was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. A female juvenile was charged at the same time and location with possession of alcohol under the legal age. An additional female juvenile was cited for no driver’s license, and charges are pending per DCI lab results for OWI, first offense. Charges are pending on an additional male subject, of Washington, per DCI lab results for possession of a controlled substance.

 

Traffic other

A caller Thursday evening in the 500 block of South Seventh Avenue in Washington reported a vehicle was blocking his driveway. An officer responded, and the driver removed the vehicle.

A caller Thursday night at Highway 22 and Juniper Avenue in Kalona reported that someone lost hay bales off his hay rack, driving westbound on Highway 22. An officer responded. The hay bales were off the roadway on the shoulder.

 

Fire calls

A caller Thursday morning in the 300 block of North Avenue B in Washington reported her coffeepot was smoking. There was water in it. She did not know if the smoke was coming from the coffeepot or the outlet. Washington Fire and an officer responded, and an ambulance was placed on standby. There was no fire.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that the neighbor’s children had dogs on leashes and were walking them on the caller’s property. The caller’s wife saw the incident. An officer called the subject and left a message.

Dispatch reported receiving an anonymous complaint of animal abuse, Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of South Avenue F in Washington. An officer responded. The report was unfounded.

A caller Thursday night in the 2800 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported a deceased deer in the roadway. An officer removed the deer.

 

Arson

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 3100 block of 115th Street in Riverside reported criminal mischief to his building. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

 

Disorderly conduct

A patient was reported trying to leave, and threatening staff, Friday morning in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington.

 

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Thursday evening in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue in Riverside reported a verbal argument. Officers responded. The female party left the residence. The male subject got the residence for the night.

 

Forgery

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of North Grant Street in Crawfordsville reported that her “ex” had taken her checks, forged them and made deposits into his account. An officer spoke with the caller, who planned to check with a previous employer about the status of the check.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Thursday morning in the 400 block of C Avenue in Kalona reported threats by a subject to release an Internet video. An officer attempted to contact him and left a message.

 

Sexual child abuse

A caller Thursday morning in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a situation at the school, and requested to speak with an officer. An officer responded. The caller was advised to refer this to DHS.

 

Suspicious activity

An officer reported being out at a residence in reference to an open door, Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of South Avenue B in Washington. Documentation was made, and extra patrol was provided.

 

Vandalism

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of Seventh Street in Kalona reported his ex-girlfriend vandalized his chain saws and motorcycle and took the motorcycle key. An officer responded. Charges are pending, and a report will be filed.
