Arrests

Emily Ann Borgomainerio, 35, of Keosauqua, was arrested Thursday evening in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for initial on possession of drug paraphernalia.

John Edward Walling Jr., 40, of Washington, was arrested Thursday night in the 700 block of South Avenue C in Washington on a charge of driving while license denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. Further charges are pending.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Thursday afternoon at South Iowa Avenue and East Madison Street in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. The vehicles were parked in a parking lot. An officer responded. Damages were less than $1,500. Carolyn J. Spicer, of Fairfield, was cited for failure to stop at a safe and assured distance.

A caller Thursday afternoon at 105th Street and Nutmeg Avenue in Kalona reported a subject wrecked a vehicle and did have injuries. Both air bags deployed. No one was trapped. Kalona Fire, Kalona QRS, and an ambulance responded. The vehicle was operated by a juvenile.  A towing company responded and removed the vehicle. A state report will be filed. One patient was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals. Charges are pending for failure to maintain control, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A caller Thursday night at East Washington Street and South 12th Avenue in Washington reported being in an accident with no injuries. An officer responded. Damages were under $1,500. Coady Kloose, of Iowa City, was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

 

Traffic other

A caller Thursday afternoon at East Washington Street and South Sixth Avenue in Washington reported a silver Buick with two young males was being driven erratically past his residence. The caller did follow the vehicle to get the license plate number. The subjects were verbally abusive toward the caller. An officer spoke with the vehicle owner, and the driver was counseled.

A caller Thursday night in the 1300 block of 128th Place in Wellman reported erratic driving by young drivers, one in a little white car followed by another in a white pickup. An officer counseled the subjects.

 

Disabled vehicles

A caller Thursday morning at Nutmeg Avenue and 190th Street in Washington reported a vehicle that had been sitting along the roadway. It had a rear right flat tire. It was well off the roadway and on the shoulder, and there was no problem with its being there. An officer was going to attempt to make contact with the owner.

 

Fire calls

A caller Thursday afternoon at 124th Street and Redwood Avenue in Brighton reported a corn field on fire southeast of the church in Pleasant Plain. Brighton Fire, a Washington County officer, Fairfield Fire and Fairfield County deputies responded. The fire was extinguished.

A caller Friday morning in the 700 block of South Eighth Avenue in Washington reported there was a shed on fire. It was close to some trees and another shed. Washington Fire Department and officers responded. The fire was extinguished.

 

Civil standby

A caller Thursday morning in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington requested a civil standby to get a cellphone. An officer responded and assisted the subject.

An officer reported being out assisting with a civil standby, Thursday afternoon in the 1500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. An additional officer assisted.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Thursday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported that a male subject was driving a blue Nissan through the area and was yelling profanity at him. The subject was not supposed to be on the premises. The caller requested to speak with a deputy. An officer spoke with the caller and statements were taken. The incident was documented.

A caller Thursday night in the 700 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington reported that his mother was intoxicated and out of control. Officers responded. The parties were advised to separate for the night.

 

DP & Q

A caller Thursday night in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona reported there was a truck that had been revving its engine for a while. The caller had a sick child and they had asked him to stop, but he refused. He was by the car wash at that time, in a red and silver 1990s style Ford. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the truck.

 

Fraud

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1900 block of 180th Street in Wellman reported two accounts opened at credit unions in California with her private information. An officer spoke with the caller for documentation purposes.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported threats, and requested to speak with an officer. An officer spoke with the caller for documentation purposes.

 

Motor vehicle theft

A caller Thursday night in the 200 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman reported that his ex-girlfriend possibly stole his vehicle from a parking lot in downtown Wellman in the past couple of days. The caller requested to speak with a deputy. The caller later advised that he located his vehicle in Iowa City. The incident is under investigation.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller Thursday morning in the 1000 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported that someone went to pay a bill and the door was open. An officer checked the building with a key holder.

 

Trespass

A caller Thursday night in the 1200 block of Nutmeg Avenue in Kalona reported that a subject was trespassing on his property on the north side of the bridge, and requested a deputy. Charges are pending. A report will be filed.

 

Welfare check

A caller Thursday evening in the 2600 block of 320th Street in Wayland reported possible animal cruelty in Henry County. An officer responded. The report was unfounded.
