Arrests

Joshua John Lang, 28, of Ainsworth, was arrested Tuesday night in the 200 block of Washington Street in Ainsworth on a charge of fifth-degree criminal mischief.

Ronda Kay Richmond, 58, of Marshalltown, was arrested Tuesday night in the 1000 block of East Madison Street in Washington on a Burlington warrant for probation violation on POCs, application to revoke deferred judgment.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday afternoon at 220th Street and Spruce Avenue in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident. Another caller advised there was injury to a knee and the head. One lane was blocked. Washington County officers, an ambulance, Ainsworth QRS, Ainsworth Fire, an Iowa State Patrol unit and Washington County Rescue responded. A towing company responded and towed both vehicles, to be released when the tow bills are paid. A state accident report will be filed. Mary Boctot de Wilson, of Columbus City, was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway.

A caller Tuesday night at Highway 1 and 520th Street in Kalona reported needing assistance in Johnson County for a vehicle accident with injuries. Kalona Fire and QRS responded and assisted Johnson County.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle that just ran into a pole, Tuesday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington. Damage to the vehicle was under $1,500. There was no damage to the pole. Eric Brandt, of Wellman, was cited for no insurance.

A caller early Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of Underwood Avenue in Riverside reported a vehicle upside down in the ditch. The caller did not see anyone around, but was not certain since it was dark. An officer, Riverside Fire and Riverside QRS responded. An ambulance was disregarded while en route. They did not locate anyone on the scene. A towing company towed the vehicle, which could be released when the tow bill was paid and the driver spoke with the officer.

 

Fire calls

A caller Tuesday evening in the 1000 block of highways 1 and 78 in Richland reported a skid loader was on fire down a long lane in a field west of the residence. Brighton Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Tuesday night in the 100 block of North 15th Avenue in Washington reported a bat in the house. An officer responded and removed the bat.

 

Assault

A caller Tuesday morning in the 600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported an assault that had occurred Monday evening. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 400 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that someone pushed her son to the ground after school by her house. An officer spoke with all parties involved. They were going to handle it among themselves. No charges were filed.

 

DP & Q

A caller early Wednesday morning in the 1200 block of East Third Street in Washington reported loud music coming from the factory. Officers responded and spoke with the night shift manager. She advised that they would quit playing music at night.

 

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Tuesday night in the 200 block of B Avenue in Kalona reported having issues with her son and was requesting an officer. Officers responded. An officer transported the juvenile to Four Oaks in Iowa City.

 

Shoplifting

A caller Tuesday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a shoplifter in the store. Krisden Marie Andries, 22, of Hills, was cited into court for fifth-degree theft.

 

Suspicious activity

Louisa County reported a suspicious subject walking eastbound, Tuesday night at Highway 92 and Cotter in Columbus Junction. The subject was in dark clothing, and a Columbus Junction officer was en route, requesting a deputy to assist. An officer advised that he made contact with Louisa County and they no longer needed him to respond, as they had no further calls on the subject.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 800 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington reported a female sitting in a blue truck, and she had been there for more than an hour. An officer responded, but the subject left prior to his arrival.

 

Welfare check

A caller Tuesday evening in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington requested a welfare check on a child approximately 4 years old in the roadway, wearing blue shorts and a blue shirt. An officer responded and made contact with the child’s mother.

A caller Tuesday night in the 2800 block of 130th Street in Riverside requested a welfare check. The subject was fine.

A caller Tuesday night in the 300 block of St. Mary’s Street in Riverside requested a welfare check on a female subject at the residence. Officers responded. There was no problem at the residence.

 

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday evening in the 1000 block of West Fifth Street in Washington reported that a no-contact order violation occurred over the weekend when she was home visiting family. An officer spoke with the caller and advised that it needed to be properly reported and documented at the time the violation occurred.

A caller Tuesday night at West Lincoln Street and South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a male and a female along the roadway fighting. Officers responded to the area and located the subjects. There was no fight, and there were no injuries.
