Arrests

Robby Dale Kepler, 34, of Eddyville, was arrested Wednesday night in the 1600 block of Highway 92 in West Chester on a charge of driving while license under revocation.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday evening in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported a two-vehicle accident on Highway 22. One person was injured and was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. A citation is pending on one vehicle operator for passing contrary to roadway markings. Both vehicles were towed.

A car-vs.-deer accident was reported Wednesday night in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth. The caller believed the vehicle was drivable. The deer ran off. An officer was advised, and documentation was made for insurance purposes. The subject picked up a state accident report to fill out.

 

Traffic other

An officer reported on Wednesday afternoon being out with a vehicle in reference to a complaint about its being parked for a week in the 700 block of South Avenue C in Washington. The officer chalked the tires.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1400 block of Ridgeview Court in Washington reported that a dark blue older car rounded the corner up through the ditch and into the yard, approximately five minutes earlier. The vehicle held two male occupants and was heading toward the high school. The vehicle and the subjects were located at the cemetery. A citation was issued to the juvenile male operator for failure to maintain control.

 

Fire calls

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 400 block of West Van Buren Street in Washington reported a lawn mower on fire. Washington Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

A caller Wednesday evening in the 300 block of Blackberry Avenue in Riverside reported that a grill was burning on the deck. Riverside Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished before the Fire Department arrived.

A caller Wednesday night in the 3100 block of Highway 1 in Brighton reported a trailer on fire. Brighton Fire, Brighton QRS, and county units responded. The fire was extinguished.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a large black snake in their parking lot. It appeared that the snake had been hit, although it was still moving. An officer responded. The snake was removed from the property.

 

Assault

A caller Wednesday night in the 1000 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that a child was assaulted by the father at the residence. Charges on pending on the male subject for simple assault. The children were going to stay at a different residence for the night.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

An officer reported being at a vehicle stop, Wednesday afternoon at 220th Street and Quince Avenue in Washington. An officer transported one juvenile to the jail, and a parent picked up the other juvenile. Two juveniles have charges pending per DCI Lab results – a juvenile passenger for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance; and the juvenile operator for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance. The juvenile operator was cited for driving while revoked. The Washington Police Department had charges on the juvenile for drug-related OWI.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday night in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington reported that a female subject had been driving by the residence with loud music and was cursing at her son. An officer was advised and was going to attempt to locate the subjects.

 

Runaway/missing person

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of Third Street in Wellman reported locating a small girl, approximately 2 to 3 years old, in the alley across the street, and she was crying. She was wearing pajamas and a diaper. An officer responded. The child was returned to her family.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday  night in the 1200 block of North Second Avenue in Washington reported suspicious subjects in the house south of him, and did not believe anyone should be in there. City units responded. Subjects advised that their family member once lived there and they were retrieving items in the house. An officer advised them that they could not be in there unless they got permission from the city. A citation was issued to Ricki Sinn, of Washington, for failure to maintain registration plates on his vehicle.

A caller early Thursday morning in the 800 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a male subject pacing back and forth in the parking lot. An officer responded and was unable to locate anyone in the area.

 

Vandalism

A caller Wednesday morning in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported that someone shot the window in his truck. An officer responded. Documentation was made for insurance purposes, and extra patrol would be provided.

 

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of Fourth Street in Wellman reported a subject whom she met online was then refusing to leave the property. An officer gave the subject a ride to Riverside, where taxi arrangements would be made to get him home.

A caller Wednesday in the 3100 block of Highway 1 in Brighton reported being out with a male walking on Highway 1. An officer gave the subject a ride to a convenience store and gas station in Brighton.
