Arrest

Cheyanne Eva Elizabeth Schalk, 20, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 1200 block of West Grimes in Fairfield on a Washington County warrant for violation of probation on original charge of possession of controlled substance – marijuana.

Xena Marie Knepp, 20, of Riverside, was arrested Tuesday evening in the 1800 block of 250th Street in Washington on a charge of simple domestic assault.

Andrew Lee Pearson, 33, of Columbus Junction, was arrested Wednesday morning in the 4500 block of Melrose Avenue in Iowa City on a Washington County warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of possession of marijuana, second offense.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday morning in the 800 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported an accident with unknown injuries. A vehicle struck the back end of the recycling truck and trailer. The truck and trailer were jackknifed. An ambulance, Washington Rescue, Washington Fire, and officers responded. The ambulance crew advised no transport. Damages were more than $1,500. A vehicle was towed. Kristine Braymen, of Brighton, was issued a citation for failure to stop at a safe and assured distance.

 

Traffic other

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of Second Street in Richland reported that the horse trailer, reported earlier in the day, was still parked in the roadway and had not been moved. An officer attempted to call the subject multiple times, and they did not answer. Documentation was made. An officer responded later Tuesday evening, and the trailer was then on private property.

 

Fire calls

A caller Tuesday night in the 2300 block of 170th Street in Kalona reported a lawn mower on fire, and then the trees. The house was somewhat close, also. Kalona Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Tuesday morning in the 100 block of Second Street in Richland reported horses were out and the owners’ trailer was parked in the roadway. Officers responded. A citation was issued to Karey Greiner, of Rubio, for responsibility of owners under the Washington County ordinance.

A caller Tuesday morning in the 500 block of South Seventh Avenue in Washington reported a stray brown terrier mix dog. An officer responded but was unable to locate the dog.

A subject reported animal abuse, Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of West First Street in Riverside. An officer responded to the location of the dog and spoke with subjects there. The dog was taken care of, and there was no problem with its kennel.

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of West Tyler Street in Washington requested to speak to an officer about animal abuse. An officer responded and spoke with all parties. There seemed to be no problems with the dog. They were spoken to about how to discipline the dog.

A caller Tuesday evening in the 900 block of East Main Street in Washington reported that the neighbor’s cats – a yellow tabby and a young gray-and-white kitten – were killing birds in the area. An officer spoke with the cat owner, who was advised of the complaint.

 

Assault

A caller Tuesday night in the 200 block of West Madison Street reported that a female assaulted a young child. Officers responded and spoke with the caller and the mother of the child. She had grabbed the child and yelled at him for almost running in front of a car in the parking lot. There were no marks on the child, and the child was fine. The complaint was unfounded. The caller again called to advise that there was then a male subject threatening the female. An officer spoke with both subjects. The male subject was just looking at her. The caller left shortly after the officer arrived.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Tuesday night in the 500 block of North Marion Avenue reported being in a dispute with his ex-boyfriend. Officers responded. The parties were separated for the night, and the caller planned to move to a new residence the next day.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 2800 block of Coppock Road in Washington requested to speak with a deputy in reference to harassment that happened Thursday on a school trip.

A caller early Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue in Riverside reported that she was being harassed by a female. An officer spoke with the caller, who requested documentation.

 

Vandalism

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported that the mirror in his 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was damaged between 3 and 4 p.m., May 20, while parked in a parking lot. Documentation was made for insurance purposes.

 

Welfare check

A caller Tuesday morning in the 400 block of South Mechanic Street in Brighton reported that a subject seemed very disoriented. She had fallen indoors and needed assistance but did not seem injured. Brighton QRS and an ambulance responded. Brighton QRS advised the ambulance to disregard, as she was refusing transport.

 

All other theft

A caller Tuesday morning in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported the theft of a piece of machinery that bends metal (metal break). The item was taken from the North Park in Wellman. It was there on Friday and was missing on Monday. A report will be filed.

 

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported that someone sprayed Roundup around two graves in Sandy Hook Cemetery. The caller identified the graves. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.
