Arrests

Jermaine Isaac Alonzo Adams, 35, of Washington was arrested Monday night in the 500 block of West Fifth Street in Washington on a charge of probation violation.

Michael Donn Petermeier, 57, of Riverside, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside on a Muscatine warrant for carrying weapons.

Traffic accident

A caller Monday morning at Highway 218 and 135th Street in Riverside reported a vehicle in the ditch north of Mile Marker 79. The vehicle had gone across the median and ended in the ditch on the northbound side. A female subject was still inside the vehicle, and the caller was unsure if she was injured. An officer responded and advised there were no injuries. Medical units were disregarded. The vehicle operator was a juvenile. The vehicle was removed from the ditch and had a damaged tire. It was to remain along the side of the road until repairs could be made. The accident was documented.

A caller Monday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth reported that a hit-and-run accident had occurred possibly Thursday or Friday, and had a photo of a possible suspect vehicle. An officer responded. The caller wasn’t sure that was the vehicle that struck hers. The officer planned to attempt to make contact. The information was documented.

A caller Monday afternoon at B Avenue and Sixth Street in Kalona reported being involved in an accident with no injuries. The roadway was not blocked. An officer responded. Damage was over $1,500, and a state accident report will be filed. A citation was issued for failure to stop and yield.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 1100 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported a vehicle struck her vehicle and left the area. An officer spoke with the caller and was going to attempt to locate the other party. Damage was minimal.

A caller Monday evening at West Fountain Street and North Mechanic Street in Brighton reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. State Patrol is handling the accident.

Traffic other

A caller Monday night in the 1200 block of East Second Street in Washington reported a subject in a maroon Ford truck kept going by her place, revving up the engine. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a possible disabled semi 3 miles south of Kalona on Highway 1. There was no problem.

An officer reported being out with a broken-down vehicle, Monday night in the 3100 block of Highway 1 in Brighton. The officer added the vehicle to the system.

An officer reported being out with a broken-down vehicle, Monday night at Highway 92 and Cedar Avenue in Keota. The officer added the vehicle to the system.

Animal complaint

A caller Monday noon in the 100 block of East Seventh Street in Washington reported another dog attacked her dog yesterday while she was out for a walk with her two daughters. This had occurred in the alley outside the other dog owner’s house. Contact was made with the dog owner, who claimed the dog was up-to-date on shots. The caller’s dog sustained a small bite which did not require veterinary attention. Ann officer spoke with the caller. A dog bite form was issued. A summons was issued to the dog’s owner for dog at large.

An officer reported receiving a call about a horse being at large, Monday night in the 2900 block of Dogwood Avenue in Brighton. An additional officer responded. They were able to get the horse back inside the fenced enclosure.

A caller Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a deceased dog in the roadway. An officer responded and removed the dog.

Assault

A caller Monday afternoon in the 600 block of East Tyler Street in Washington reported that her son with special needs was assaulted the previous night by a staff member.  An officer spoke with the caller. A report will be filed.

A third-party caller, Monday night in the 2300 block of Yucca Avenue in Ainsworth, reported a domestic situation. The caller advised that the male had choked the female and dragged her across the floor. Officers responded. Both parties advised that they had an argument but nothing physical.

Civil dispute

A subject Monday afternoon in the 500 block of South Avenue B in Washington was reported packing up her belongings and putting them into a trailer. An officer responded. The caller was gathering her belongings to move out and was advised to call back in if there were any further problems.

Civil standby

A caller Monday afternoon in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton reported that a tenant moved out and took the dish network box. The caller would like to get it back, and gave the location where she was parked. An officer responded. The box was still there. The complaint was unfounded.

DP & Q

A caller Monday night at West Washington Street and South Avenue C in Washington reported a possible domestic dispute at this location. Officers responded to the area and were unable to locate a problem.

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Monday afternoon in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington reported several subjects in the pavilion smoking marijuana. An officer responded but was unable to locate any marijuana in the pavilion.

Family offense non-violent

A caller Monday morning in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington reported that her ex-husband did not take the youngsters to school that day. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington reported that a neighbor was having some sort of problem with her boyfriend. An officer responded. It was a civil dispute over a cellphone.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Monday night in the 40 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported a subject was texting her daughter, threatening her. An officer responded. The caller planned to make contact with the school the next day. The information was documented.

Mental subject

A caller Monday night in the 3100 block of Highway 1 in Brighton reported various ways of being harassed, and that a subject was outside. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate anyone.

Sexual assault

A caller Monday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported her nephew was sexually assaulted. An officer responded and spoke to all parties involved. All information was forwarded to the appropriate department.

Suspicious activity

A caller Monday morning in the 300 block of First Street in Kalona reported a male subject in an older gray car holding an aerosol can up to his nose and acting unusual. Officers responded. The vehicle was located. The juvenile was cited for possession of tobacco. The inhalant was seized. The juvenile’s mother responded to pick him up.

Truancy

A caller Monday morning in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that a student had left the building, and described the juvenile’s apparel. An officer located the juvenile at his residence and transported him back to the school.

Vandalism

A caller Monday afternoon in the 900 block of East Tyler Street in Washington reported vandalism of the yard by a truck during the weekend. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

Welfare check

An officer reported a welfare check, Monday morning in the 900 block of 10th Street in Kalona. Subjects were out of town. There was no problem.

A caller Tuesday morning in the 700 block of D Avenue in Kalona requested a welfare check on her father, who had a medical history. Kalona QRS and an officer responded. An ambulance was disregarded by Kalona QRS. They made contact with the male, and everything was OK.

All other theft

A caller Monday afternoon in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported the theft of money from a resident. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

All other offenses

A caller Monday night in the 1000 block of East Second Street in Washington reported someone tried to break into the car and ran away when the alarm went off. An officer responded. Nothing was taken. Documentation was made.
