Arrests

Nicholas James Wayne, 26, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday night in the 2400 block of highway 92 in Washington on a charge of fifth-degree theft.

Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday morning in the 1200 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported that a subject backed into his vehicle while it was parked in the parking gar age. The caller was unsure when it happened, sometime during the previous week. There were damage and paint transfer. An officer responded and spoke with all parties involved. Damages were under $1,500, and it was an unreportable accident. Information was exchanged.

A caller Tuesday night at Vine Avenue and Highway 22 in Riverside reported a car vs. deer accident with no injuries to the vehicle occupants. There were front-end damages and engine damage, and the vehicle was not drivable. The accident was documented for insurance purposes. The operator had a tow truck called for pickup of the vehicle. A deer tag was issued to the vehicle operator.

Traffic other

A caller Tuesday afternoon at 140th Street and Vine Avenue in Riverside reported he was run off the road, and had called for a tow truck. An officer responded and provided traffic control. There was no damage. The vehicle got too close to the shoulder.

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Fourth Street in Wellman reported there was a Great Dane in their yard. It had a collar and tags, but the caller had not approached the dog. An officer responded and was unable to make contact with the owner. The dog was taken to the Wellman City Kennel for the night, and PAWS and More was contacted.  Personnel on the day shift were to attempt to contact the owner.

DP & Q

A caller Wednesday morning in the 800 block of South Avenue C in Washington advised that there was a bright flashing light shining into his apartment windows. An officer responded and checked the apartment buildings in the area, and was unable to locate a problem.

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Tuesday morning in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a juvenile who was possibly under the influence. An officer responded. The juvenile was negative for intoxication. The mother responded and picked up the juvenile.

A caller Tuesday night in the 400 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington reported suspicious activity. Officers responded. Charges are pending per DCI lab results on two Washington residents.

Intoxicated driver

A caller Wednesday morning in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported that an intoxicated male drove himself to the hospital. An officer responded and transported the subject back to his residence.

Sexual assault

A report of a sexual abuse case was made, Tuesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. A report will be filed.

Shoplifting

A caller Tuesday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a shoplifter in the store the previous day, who took $230 worth of merchandise. An officer responded. A report will be filed. The incident is under investigation.

Stolen property

A caller Tuesday afternoon at Elm Avenue and Highway 78 in Brighton reported they had located a stolen Caterpillar rubber tire backhoe. An officer spoke with the locating agency, the owner, and the insurance company. The entry was canceled from the system.

Trespass

A caller Tuesday morning in the 2000 block of Vine Avenue in Ainsworth reported a subject who had a

“no trespass” order came to her residence and she spoke with him. The caller did not know if he was still there or not. An officer responded and spoke to the reporting party and her mother. They advised that they did not want the male subject on the property. The officer spoke with the male and advised him he was not allowed on the property.

A caller Tuesday noon in the 100 block of Third Street in Ainsworth reported that a vacuum cleaner salesman came into her home and would not leave. An officer responded. Citations were issued to Joshua Lee Jackson, 32, of Davenport, Joshua J. McRae, 31, of Rock Island, Illinois, Jeremy Alan Holmes, 39, of Davenport, and Jacob Charles Morse, 19, of Davenport, for City of Ainsworth ordinance soliciting without a permit.

All other theft

An officer reported that he received a report of theft, Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday evening at West First Street and North Washington Street in Riverside reported vacuum cleaner salesmen who were very aggressive, going door to door. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the subjects.
