Arrests

Lance George Mayor, 39, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Washington County warrant for disorderly conduct, fighting or violent behavior.

John Edward Walling Jr., 40, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Washington County warrant for disorderly conduct, fighting or violent behavior.

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday afternoon at Parkside Estates Road and West Madison Street in Washington reported a two-vehicle traffic accident with unknown injuries. One vehicle was in the ravine. Officers, an ambulance a Washington County Rescue unit, and Washington Fire Department responded. Damage was over $1,500. A state accident report will be filed. There was no transport by ambulance. Eulogio Huertero, of Washington, was cited for failure to maintain control.

A caller Wednesday night at Highway 78 and Elm Avenue in Brighton reported his girlfriend hit a deer on Elm Avenue north of Highway 78. She had no injuries. They did not believe the vehicle was drivable. An officer responded and put down the injured deer. The operator was given a state accident report. A deer tag was issued.

Traffic other

An officer reported being out with a truck and trailer, Wednesday morning in the 200 block of West River Street in Riverside. The officer spoke with a subject. Documentation was made.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Wednesday night in the 2900 block of Wayland Road in Washington. The officer advised that the subject had help coming and needed no further assistance.

A caller Thursday morning at Highway 1 and 220th Street in Washington reported that she had a flat tire and was needing some assistance in changing her tire. An officer responded and transported the caller to West Chester after some mechanical issues.

An officer reported being out with a disabled black Escalade with no plates, Thursday morning at West Madison Street and South Avenue B in Washington. The subject just needed directions.

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday morning in the 500 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported a loose German shepherd in the area. A dog catcher and an officer responded but could not locate the dog. It was running to a back deck in the neighborhood. The officer planned to attempt to locate the owner in reference to city ordinance violations.

A caller Wednesday noon in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported that his neighbor’s dog came at him in an aggressive manner, and requested a deputy. It was a medium brown and white dog. An officer made the dog’s owner aware of the complaint, and spoke with the caller. Both subjects were counseled.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1100 block of 250th Street in Keota reported black cows were out in the roadway. An officer responded. The cow owner was located, and put the cows back in. One was still out, but it was to be located in the daylight.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Wednesday night in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington reported she was at a residence to pick up her child and there was a possible domestic disturbance inside. An officer responded. The child was exchanged, and there was no domestic disturbance.

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported a male subject who was smoking marijuana in his vehicle, then went inside to work. There was still marijuana in his vehicle. Officers responded. There was a positive K-9 alert, and a consent search was done. Items were seized by an officer. A report will be filed.

A report of suspicious activity was made, Wednesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. A report will be filed.

A caller Thursday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported locating a suspicious substance in their restroom. An officer responded and destroyed the found substance.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard reported someone was threatening to harm him. The report is under investigation.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 block of Eighth Street in Wellman reported receiving numerous calls from a male subject using two different phone numbers and asking for a specific subject. She had asked him to stop. The caller requested that a deputy attempt to make contact. An officer spoke with both parties. There should be no further problems.

A caller Wednesday night in the 400 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington reported a neighbor was harassing her and calling her names. An officer responded. Both parties were advised to have o more contact with each other.

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday night in the 3200 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported that a male subject was in her yard, but she couldn’t see if there were any vehicles around. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate the subject. The caller agreed to call back if the male showed up again.

An officer Thursday morning in the 600 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported that he heard a car alarm going off. When he located the vehicle, the lights were still flashing, but he did not see anyone around and everything else seemed to be OK. The incident was documented.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Thursday morning at 13th Street and First Avenue in Wellman. Everything was OK. The driver had just stopped there because he was tired.

A caller Thursday morning in the 1300 block of East Harrison Street in Washington reported she heard what sounded like someone walking on her deck a little while earlier, and then her dog was barking. Officers responded and checked around the house and around the area. No one was located.

Truancy

A caller Wednesday morning in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue reported that a student left, running southbound on Fourth Avenue, wearing an orange shirt and blue pants, and that a teacher was following him. Officers located the student, and he was given a ride back to the school.

All other theft

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 900 block of East Second Street in Washington reported that the registration tag was taken off their Dodge Ram 1500, and registration was taken out of their vehicle for their trailer. Documentation was made. The registration tags were entered into the system.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 1700 block of 140th Street in Wellman reported the theft of a black John Deere tool box from his combine. It was mounted on the combine. There was a set of 14 or 15 Northern Tool wrenches missing, from seven-sixteenths of an inch to 1 ¼ inch in size. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday night at Birch Avenue and 200th Street in Keota reported two trucks on the dirt road making a lot of noise, tearing up the road. One had a headlamp on the top of the truck and was possibly a blue truck. Officers responded and were unable to locate the vehicles.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman reported children throwing rocks at vehicles driving by. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the subjects.
