Arrests

Randon William Lee Robbins, 27, of Wayland, was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington on a charge of failure to appear – assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

Eliza M. Walsh, 29, of Washington, was arrested Thursday night in the 600 block of East Main Street in Washington on a charge of fifth-degree theft.

Lacey Jane Magner, 33, of Washington, was arrested Friday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington on a charge of fifth-degree theft.

Traffic accident

A caller Thursday morning at Highway 1 and West 18th Street in Washington reported a traffic accident with minor injuries. The vehicles were off the roadway. Officers, an ambulance, a Washington County rescue unit, and Washington Fire responded. The vehicles were towed. Damages were over $1,500, and a state report will be filed. There was no transport by ambulance. Robert Shelangoski, of Brighton, was cited for failure to stop at a safe and assured distance.

Ambulance Traffic via radio advised they had just witnessed a two-vehicle traffic accident with unknown injuries at West Fifth Street and Highway 1 in Washington, Thursday morning. An airbag deployed. Damages were over $1,500. There were minor injuries, and no transport by ambulance. A state accident report will be filed. A towing company responded to tow both vehicles. A juvenile was cited for failure to yield prior to entering a roadway.

A caller Thursday night at Wayland Road and 297th Place in Washington reported hitting a deer near 297th Street. The deer ran off. The vehicle was drivable. Documentation was made.

Disabled vehicles

A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Thursday afternoon in the 1900 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. An officer spoke with the operator. They had help coming and did not need any assistance.

Fire calls

A caller Thursday night in the 200 block of 10th Avenue in Wellman reported that someone in the trailer court was burning something and the smoke was coming into their residence, and requested that they put it out. An officer spoke with the subject, who agreed to put the fire out.

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday morning in the 2100 block of 290th Street in Washington reported a dead deer in the roadway. An officer responded and removed the deer from the road.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 600 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported that a neighbor had consistently left their dog out on a chain all day. An officer responded and spoke with a roommate, who took the dog inside. He was advised of the ordinance and agreed to relay it to the owner of the dog. On this day, the dog was caught up on the chain in some fencing for a flower arrangement.

A caller Thursday evening in the 600 block of West Main Street in Washington reported a brown pit bull was loose and jumped on her son. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was forwarded to the proper authorities. Documentation was made.

A caller Thursday night in the 400 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported a brown pit bull was loose in the area. The dog did not jump on them or bite them. An officer responded. The incident was related to an earlier call. Documentation was made. The dog was contained by its owner earlier in the afternoon, before either subject called in.

Fraud

A caller Thursday morning in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported fraudulent use of Social Security information. An officer responded. Documentation was made at that time.

Stolen property

A caller Thursday morning in the 180 block of East Fourth Street in Riverside reported a stolen vehicle, a red 2005 Buick Terraza minivan. The time lapse was from 9 p.m. on Sept. 27, to 7 a.m. on Sept. 28. There were two broken door handles, laundry inside, keys in the vehicle, and half a tank of gas. The vehicle was listed as stolen. About 2 ½ hours later, the vehicle was located at Orange Avenue and 110th Street in Kalona. It was removed from the system. The owner had the vehicle towed by private tow.

Suspicious activity

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Friday morning in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington. Everything was fine.

A caller Friday morning in the 40 block of North Greene Street in Riverside reported that it sounded as if someone were breaking into a machine in the nearby business. An officer responded. The subjects were going through the trash to find pop cans. They were advised of the complaint, and were going to be on their way.

All other theft

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington requested an officer regarding a juvenile stealing money from another juvenile. An officer responded. No report was needed. The parents and the school planned to handle the situation.
