Arrests

Mark Andrew Hanson, 33, of Washington was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 2800 block of Highway 1 in Washington on charges of fraudulent use of registration and driving while license under suspension. He was also issued a warning for no insurance. He was also arrested on an Iowa County warrant for failure to appear on contempt of court for third-degree burglary.

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday morning at Highway 92 and Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a car vs. deer accident. The vehicle was still drivable. The deer was in the roadway. An officer responded and removed the deer from the roadway.

Traffic other

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 1200 block of West 18th Street in Washington reported a male subject was on foot, wearing a short-sleeved shirt and a ski mask, and walked out in front of her and stood staring at her vehicle in her lane. The caller was able to drive around him without incident. Officers responded to the area and were unable to locate anyone.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with an occupied disabled vehicle, Wednesday morning at Highway 218 and 135th Street in Riverside. The occupants were on their way.

An officer advised that he was out with a vehicle in the ditch, Wednesday night in the 1300 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman. The vehicle belonged to the resident. The subject was out working on the fencing. There was no problem. The vehicle was added to the system.

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of East Seventh Street in Washington reported a large black Lab running loose in the area. It was wearing a collar. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the dog. Later, the mail carrier reported containing the loose dog. The dog catcher was notified and responded. Before the dog can be released, the owner needs to speak with the officer and receive a citation.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1500 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman reported a cow out in the roadway. An officer responded and was able to get the cow out of the road. The officer made contact with the owner, and they advised that they would go and take care of it.

A caller Wednesday night in the 2800 block of Louisa Washington Road reported that a horse was out in the roadway. An officer responded. The horse had been put back after a gate was left open.

Assault

A caller Wednesday morning in the 700 block of South Avenue C in Washington reported a possible assault that had occurred during the weekend. An officer spoke with the caller for documentation purposes only.

Barking dog

A caller Wednesday night in the 1600 block of East Seventh Street in Washington reported a barking dog. An officer was advised and was unable to locate the dog.

A caller Wednesday night in the 600 block of South Seventh Avenue in Washington reported a barking dog. An officer responded and spoke with the owners of the dog. They advised that the dog probably did bark, as it usually did when someone arrived home. The dog was not barking when the officer arrived. The owners were advised on the city ordinance.

Civil standby

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of East 13th Street in Washington requested a civil standby. An officer responded and assisted.

A caller Wednesday evening in the 600 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington reported that subjects were playing loud music. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate loud music.

A caller Thursday morning in the 700 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported that a neighbor was playing loud music in their garage. An officer responded and spoke to the subject. He shut off the music.

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street in Brighton reported a family situation and requested a deputy. An officer responded. The county attorney was consulted, and the report will be turned over to DHS.

A caller Wednesday night in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported that two juveniles were in the store causing problems, and requested an officer. Officers responded. One officer walked the juveniles home to their residence and spoke with their mother on the phone. They were advised that they were not allowed at the business unless their parent was with them.

Illegal dumping

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1700 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported that someone dumped trash in his dumpster sometime the previous night. An officer responded and was unable to locate any identifiers.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday morning in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported harassment and that she wanted a subject banned from the business. An officer spoke with the caller and was going to attempt to locate the suspect.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported two subjects who were harassing the staff at the drive-through bank. An officer was advised. The account owner was advised. The staff agreed to call if the subjects returned.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported that her daughter-in-law was calling her and making harassing comments about her son, with whom she had a no-contact order. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

Shoplifting

A caller Wednesday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported there was a shoplifter in the store. An officer responded. Brandon James Ferdig, 20, of Washington, was cited into court on a charge of fifth-degree theft.

Vandalism

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported that someone drove through the grass. An officer was going to attempt to locate the possible suspect. Documentation was made. Later, an officer spoke with the subject and advised him he was not supposed to be on the property again.

Welfare check

A caller Thursday morning in the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman requested a welfare check on his elderly neighbor. His car radio was turned up very loud and the vehicle was not running. An officer called the male, and he advised he was OK and said he would turn the music down.

All other theft

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported the theft of $20. An officer responded. The report was unfounded.

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington reported a subject in an apartment was out of control and throwing items from the balcony. Officers spoke with the subject. He had calmed down and planned to have family come and be with him.

A caller Wednesday evening in the 1100 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported he had videotape of a juvenile walking on top of his car. An officer responded and spoke with the caller. There was no damage to the vehicle. Documentation was made.

A caller Wednesday evening in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington reported that several youngsters were on the roof of a pavilion in the park. An officer responded. The subjects had a watch up on the roof and were trying to get it. They were told to stay off the top of the pavilion.

An officer reported being out with vehicles in the parking lot, Thursday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Both subjects were intoxicated and got a hotel room.
