Traffic accident

A caller Thursday afternoon at South Avenue C and West Madison Street in Washington reported being involved in an accident with no injuries. Two vehicles were involved. An officer responded. Damage was more than $1,500, and a state report will be filed. A juvenile subject was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.

A caller Thursday night in the 700 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported backing into a telephone pole. There was damage to the pole and her vehicle. An officer responded. Damage was under $1,500. The pole just had some scuffs on it.

A caller Friday morning at Highway 218 and 320th Street in Crawfordsville reported another semi driver reached him by radio and advised him there was a truck in the ditch near Mile Marker 59 on the northbound side, with unknown injuries. No further information was available. Three officers, an ambulance, Crawfordsville QRS, Crawfordsville Fire, Washington County Rescue, Riverside Rescue and Iowa State Patrol responded. Iowa State Patrol is handling the accident. One subject was transported to the University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Traffic other

An officer reported being out with a vehicle for extended parking, Friday morning in the 400 block of West Main Street in Washington. The officer chalked the tires at 1:15 a.m.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Thursday morning at Vine Avenue and 150th Street in Riverside.

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Thursday morning in the 2300 block of Highway 1 in Washington. The officer added the vehicle to the system and marked it with orange tape.

An officer reported being out with a broken-down vehicle, Thursday night in the 2900 block of Highway 1 in Washington. The officer tagged the vehicle and added it to the system.

Assault

A caller Friday morning at East Third Street and North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported he came upon a male yelling for help, who had been hit in the face and was bleeding from the mouth area. Male and female suspects left eastbound on East Third Street and North Iowa Avenue. The injured subject advised he did not want an ambulance. Three officers and an ambulance responded. The officers advised that the subject requested to be checked by the ambulance crew. There was no medical transport. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Thursday night in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported being out with a subject with drug paraphernalia. An officer cited a juvenile into court for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Intoxicated driver

A caller Thursday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported an intoxicated male was sitting in his white truck, possibly trying to leave. The subject went back inside. There should be no problem.

Motor vehicle theft

A caller Thursday night in the 700 block of F Avenue in Kalona reported that her vehicle was stolen sometime during the    day, after 8 a.m. An officer responded. The vehicle had been located earlier in the day by Iowa State Patrol in a separate incident. All information was forwarded to the State Patrol, and the incident is under investigation.

Sex offender

A report of a possible violation of sex offender registry was reported Thursday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. A report will be filed.

A deputy reported a new sex offender registration, Thursday night in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth.

Suspicious activity

A caller Friday morning in the 500 block of East Madison Street in Brighton reported an 18- to 24-year-old male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short hair, black shirt and blue jeans was scoping out garages and vehicles in the area. He left westbound, on foot. An officer responded and was unable to locate the male. No vehicles seemed to have been broken into or gone through.

Trespass

A caller Thursday morning in the 2800 block of 170th Street in Ainsworth reported someone was on her deck during the night. She noticed it that morning when she got up. An officer spoke with the subject for documentation.

Truancy

A caller Thursday morning in the 700 block of West Monroe Street in Washington reported that his son was refusing to go to school. The subject went to school. Charges are pending on the juvenile for possession of tobacco and possession of a controlled substance.

All other theft

A caller Thursday morning in the 100 block of First Street in Kalona reported an issue with an employee, and requested to speak with a deputy. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.

A caller Thursday night in the 500 block of 13th Street in Wellman reported a theft of decorations. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

All other offenses

A caller Thursday morning at West Third Street and West Fifth Street in Washington reported a man, a woman and a black Labrador retriever were on the railroad tracks taking photographs, and almost got hit by the train. The caller requested that an officer ask them to stay off the tracks. An officer responded. The subjects were advised to stay off the railroad tracks.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1100 block of Redwood Avenue in Riverside reported a neighbor came into his yard and threatened bodily harm with a garden utensil. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

A caller Thursday night in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a child was out on the street without any adult supervision. An officer was disregarded, as the parents were located.

A caller Thursday night in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a juvenile was out of control. Officers responded. The juvenile was going to bed.

An officer reported being out with intoxicated subjects in the parking lot, Friday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. They were getting a cab.

Criminal Gang Members - Vote Passed (233-175, 25 Not Voting)

The House passed the bill that would define a criminal gang as a group of five or more persons that has the primary purpose of the commission of one or more certain criminal offenses and would prohibit individuals defined as foreign criminal gang members from entering the United States.

Fiscal 2018 Omnibus Appropriations - Vote Passed (211-198, 25 Not Voting)

The House passed the bill, as amended, that would provide $1.23 trillion for federal departments and agencies covered by the 12 unfinished fiscal 2018 spending bills, including $621.5 billion for defense and $511 billion for nondefense discretionary spending.
