Arrests

Filiberto Malaga-Temich, 33, of Washington, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington on a charge of public intoxication.

William Jason Robinson, 45, of Washington, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Washington County warrant for violation of probation on original charge of possession of a controlled substance, third and subsequent.

Traffic accident

A caller Monday afternoon in the 500 block of North Seventh Avenue in Washington reported a subject backed into his vehicle while it was parked at a business. Damage was under $1,500. Information was exchanged.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle along the roadway. Occupants of the vehicle had a tow truck coming to assist.

Animal complaint

A caller Monday night in the 700 block of East Main Street in Washington reported a bat in her residence, and requested an officer. An officer responded to assist.

Barking dog

A caller Monday afternoon in the 100 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported a yellow Labrador retriever barking since 8 a.m., in a nearby house with a large yard and underground fencing. An officer responded. The dog was barking and not friendly. The officer spoke with the owner by phone, and she was given a warning and advised of some options.

Burglary

A subject was in the lobby Monday morning in the 2400 block of 280th Street in Washington and reported a burglary at his residence. It was the theft of a gun. A report will be filed.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Monday evening in the 2400 block of 190th Street in Washington reported her husband had threatened to assault her.  Two officers responded. The report was unfounded. The caller was extremely intoxicated and planned to go to bed.

Drug/narcotics violation

An officer reported receiving lab results, Monday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Charges were filed on Hunter Orion Engstrom of Cedar Rapids for possession with intent to deliver, possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Runaways/missing person

A caller Monday afternoon in the 700 block of Sixth Street in Kalona reported his daughter got onto the wrong school bus, and at the time of the call he did not know where she was. An officer responded to the area. The child was located safely by the parent. The family will make contact with the school to get the situation rectified.

Stolen property

A caller Monday morning in the 1100 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported locating a blue and black striped bike up against a tree in the alley. An officer responded and took a blue DXR MGX 21-speed bike to the bike shed.

Trespass

A caller Monday afternoon in the 300 block of West Monroe Street in Washington requested assistance in removing someone from the residence whom they did not want there. An officer responded and assisted.

Vandalism

A caller Monday morning at South Airport Road and East Washington Street in Washington reported all three pods were broken into, cutting off the locks. There was no theft. No report will be made. The information was documented.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington reported her vehicle was keyed during the day, somewhere in Washington. An officer responded. It appeared that someone threw something at the vehicle. The trunk lid was damaged. The vehicle had not been keyed. Documentation was made.

All other theft

A caller Monday morning in the 600 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported the theft of packages from her house on Saturday. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.

A caller Monday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a stolen debit card from the Waterloo area. The card was used in Washington. A report will be filed.

A caller Monday morning at an undisclosed location in Coppock reported her purse was stolen in Coppock, and named the suspect. The caller had left the location prior to the deputy’s arrival.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington reported the theft of two red gazing balls from the yard. Documentation was made.

A caller Monday night in the 300 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington reported that a subject had stolen extension cords. An officer responded. A report will be filed.
