Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday evening in the 200 block of East River Street in Riverside reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. The vehicles were off the roadway and sitting in a parking lot. An officer responded. One vehicle was towed. Damage was over $1,500, and a state accident report was filed.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Highway 218 in Riverside reported her vehicle hydroplaned and hit the overpass bridge. The vehicle was still in the roadway. There were no injuries. Officers responded. A state accident report will be filed. The vehicle was towed.

Traffic other

A caller Thursday morning in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported a subject hit her car intentionally. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 1000 block of Circle Drive in Wellman reported a loose husky dog lying in the backyard. It appeared that the dog broke a tie-out cable. An officer responded. A city worker confined the dog for him.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported two dogs locked in a vehicle in the parking lot. An officer responded. The owner was counseled on the situation. The dogs were physically OK, and she said she intended to be only a short time but got delayed.

Fraud

A caller Wednesday night in the 500 block of East Ninth Street in Washington reported a fraud. An officer responded. Money had been taken. Documentation was made.

Hang-up 911 calls

Dispatch reported that an unknown female called 911, Thursday morning in the 200 block of 10th Avenue in Wellman, and requested an officer to respond. The caller then hung up when asked what was going on. An officer was advised.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of East Second Street in Washington reported receiving harassing phone calls from a female subject looking for an “Alfred.” She had asked her to stop calling, but the subject was refusing to do so. An officer spoke with the caller, who had already had the situation resolved.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported threats via Facebook. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made for the time being.

A caller Wednesday night in the 100 block of C Avenue in Kalona reported needing to speak to an officer about a situation with her daughter and a juvenile male. Documentation was made for the time being.

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 3000 block of 130th Street in Riverside reported that a suspicious white male subject near their driveway, wearing a flannel shirt and jeans, kept trying to capture their attention at the residence. An officer responded along with a Department of Transportation car. The subject, of Cedar Rapids,  was given a ride to the Olds area.

A caller Thursday morning at Underwood Avenue and Old White Way in Ainsworth reported two males flagging down cars from the side of the road. An officer responded and was unable to locate the subjects.

All other theft

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of East Second Street in Washington reported a stolen multicolored mini bike with a sticker that said “Rocker” on it. She did not have the serial number. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 200 block of Third Street in Wellman reported a gun missing from the locked cabinet. It was a Smith & Wesson 9 mm with an extra clip and leather holster. The caller did not have a suspect. An officer responded. There were no suspects. A report will be filed. The gun was entered into NCIC.

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday night in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported that his girlfriend was going to hurt him. An officer responded. The female subject was given a ride to the county hospital.

A caller Wednesday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported that a neighbor was burning trash on the ground and no one was around. An officer responded and

spoke with the neighbors, and they agreed to put out the fire. Another caller reported that, after the deputies left the area, the subjects started the fire again. The officer returned to the location, and the resident advised he did not realize the fire had started back up. The fire was again put out.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington reported an electrical pole on fire. Officers, Washington Fire Department and Alliant Energy responded and assisted.
