Arrests

Permelia Marie Ellis, 41, of Mount Pleasant, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of East Clay Street in Mount Pleasant on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of driving while license was under suspension.

Brandy Marie Perez, 35, of Des Moines, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 2300 block of Law Center Drive in Newton on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for initial on possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hunter Orion Engstrom, 20, of Mount Pleasant, was arrested Wednesday night in the 100 block of East Clay Street in Mount Pleasant on a Washington County warrant for controlled substance violation, possession of a controlled substance – cannabis oil, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday afternoon at 192nd Street and Spruce Avenue in Ainsworth reported a vehicle lost control and ran over a street sign. The bumper from the vehicle was left behind. An officer responded. The vehicle operator was identified. The officer also located a T-intersection sign that was down. Insurance information will be forwarded to the appropriate people in reference to the damaged signs.

A caller Thursday morning in the 100 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported being in a hit-and-run vehicle accident. The possible suspect vehicle was either a red Dodge Intrepid or a silver four-door car, last seen going westbound on East Madison. An officer responded. A state accident report will be filed. The vehicle will be parked in the bank parking lot until they can get a spare tire.

Traffic other

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman reported a vehicle was traveling on her bumper all the way to Mid-Prairie. An officer spoke with the caller, and the school will speak with the female operator of the vehicle.

A caller Wednesday morning at H Avenue and 14th Street in Kalona reported a truck with a flatbed was blocking the roadway. An officer responded. An erosion control business was working in the area. There was plenty of room to get around them.

Assault

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 2400 block of Underwood Avenue in Ainsworth reported she was assaulted by her sister. An officer responded. There were no charges. She would like the subject not to return. The stepfather called in, reporting damage to a door inside the residence. The officer spoke with him. The daughter was spoken to, and planned to pay for the door next week. The incident was documented.

Civil dispute

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of East Second Street in Washington reported that a subject had some of her items and wouldn’t return them. An officer spoke with both parties. The subject planned to give the items back, and agreed to make the caller aware of that.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington requested a review of a video in regard to a possible incident. An officer responded. Documentation was taken. The officer planned to follow up with the school the next day after they had spoken with the parents.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday evening in the 1200 block of North Iowa Avenue requested to speak to an officer regarding an incident with a neighbor. An officer spoke with all parties. The officer planned to make contact with the City of Washington and follow up with the situation the next day. The dispute was over an alleyway.

Shoplifting

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a theft. An officer responded. Documentation was made for the time being.

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday morning in the 800 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a suspicious item located. An officer responded and took the item.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of East 11th Street in Washington reported a suspicious male subject -- with medium brown short hair, blue jeans, boots, and a black and gray jacket --  was lying in her lawn. Officers responded. The subject was on a walk and took a break. He was heading home. There was no problem.

A caller Wednesday night in the 700 block of West Monroe Street in Washington reported that a silver minivan was parked in an alley behind his residence. It had just left, traveling eastbound. It had driven by the residence several times. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.

Vandalism

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of North Avenue C in Washington reported tires flattened and windows broken out of a 1995 Toyota Celica. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of North Avenue C in Washington advised an officer that she had had vandalism to her windows. Windows were shot out. Documentation was made.

All other theft

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported the theft of a cellphone this morning from the library. An officer attempted to make contact with the caller.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 1000 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported the theft of money. An officer responded. Documentation was made, and follow-up communication will be done.

All other offenses

An officer reported being out checking on a juvenile who had an order for pickup, Wednesday night in the 700 block of West Monroe Street in Washington. The officer locate the juvenile and transported him to the Police Department. He was going to be transported to a detention facility per order of Juvenile Court Services.
