Justus Patrick Young, 18, of Kalona, was arrested Wednesday night at Highway 22 in Kalona for operating while intoxicated, possession of alcohol under the legal age and speeding.


Traffic accidents

A van reportedly hit a trailer Wednesday morning in the 100 block of First Street in Kalona. Officers responded. The incident was documented.

An improperly parked vehicle was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.



A caller in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona reported Wednesday afternoon that a subject purchased items over the phone to be delivered to Cedar Rapids. The items were delivered and the caller reported the buyer’s credit card company was disputing the charge. The incident was documented.


All other thefts

Charges were filed Wednesday afternoon in the 1400 block of West Fifth Street on James Perry Davis, 37, of Washington, for fifth-degree theft.



Someone reportedly keyed a vehicle Wednesday evening in the 800 block of West Monroe Street in Washington. The incident was documented.



A caller in the 100 block of Alegre Lane in Washington reported a subject was harassing him. The incident is under investigation.



A caller in the 700 block of North B Avenue in Washington reported Thursday morning hearing someone outside of his residence. Officers were unable to locate anyone.


Animal complaints

A bat was reported in a residence in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington Wednesday morning. Officers responded.
