Arrests

Traffic accident

A caller Thursday morning at Highway 92 and Redwood Avenue in Washington reported witnessing a car vs. deer accident, and there was debris on the roadway. There were no injuries to the vehicle occupants.  The vehicle was totaled. The operator had cleaned off the roadway and had already called a towing service to tow the vehicle. He was advised to fill out a state accident report.

Traffic other

A caller Thursday morning in the 1400 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported being unable to get to the mailbox due to a truck and trailer parked in front of the mailboxes. An officer responded and advised the caller that her mailbox was not blocked.

A caller Thursday night at Highway 92 and Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported her car was making weird noises and might be broken down. An officer responded. The subject was going to try to make it home.

Disabled vehicles

A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Thursday evening at Highway 218 and 140th Street in Riverside. The deputy advised that the subjects were on their way.

Fire calls

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 700 block of Lincoln Street in Ainsworth reported electrical lines were on fire, but at the time of the call they were only smoking. The Ainsworth Fire Department and Alliant Energy responded.

A caller Friday morning in the 2400 block of 110th Street in Kalona reported something was on fire north of the housing addition. An officer and Kalona Fire Department responded. It was a controlled burn.

Fraud

A caller Thursday evening in the 100 block of McCreedy Drive in Washington reported fraudulent charges on her account. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident is under investigation.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Thursday morning in the 1100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported harassment by a male subject in a gold/green Cadillac. Three times already that morning he had stopped in his vehicle, stared and whistled. An officer responded. The caller was advised to call when the subject arrived again.

A caller Thursday morning in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Brighton reported being harassed by a subject in Brighton. An officer was going to attempt to locate the harassing party. A message was left to call the communications center for the officer.

Runaways/missing person

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 700 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that a juvenile ran from school and locked himself in his own home. An officer responded and advised that the school had resolved the issue.

Vandalism

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington requested to speak with an officer regarding damage to property by a juvenile. An officer responded and spoke with the school personnel. The incident was documented. The caller planned to look into other options to resolve the matter.

Welfare check

A caller Thursday morning in the 500 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington requested a welfare check on two subjects. He was in the garage, and they wouldn’t answer their door. Three officers responded and made contact. There was no problem.

All other theft

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off of $77.25 two hours earlier, and listed a possible license number. Dispatch made contact with the registered owner. He had paid for his $20 purchases in cash. The cashier had the wrong license plate

All other offenses

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 2400 block of 220th Street in Washington reported a suspicious subject had been around the residence earlier that day, and requested that an officer check out the area. An officer responded, and no one was around the residence.
