Kevin Dale Sexon, 45, of Keota, was located in Muscatine County. He was arrested on a warrant from absence from cutoday. Bond was set at $1000.

Jimmie Lee Stringer III, 22, of 32 Parkside Estates Road, Washington, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an assault. Bond was set at $500.

James Anthony Olds, 45, was arrested at the 900 block of 11th Street in Marion for a warrant on simple assault. His bond was set at $300.

Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident occurred in a parking lot at the 100 block of First Street in Kalona. No injuries were reported. Information was exchanged between the two drivers.

A caller reported striking a deer at the 2700 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. The caller was unsure if the deer was still alive and believed the vehicle was drivable. There was under $1500 in damage to the vehicle.

Intoxicated driver

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle at Highway 22 and Vine Avenue. Brette Hopkins-Myers, 36, of Coralville, was arrested for driving while barred, OWI third offense, and having an open container in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed.

All other offenses

A possible domestic situation was reported at the 800 block of South C Avenue in Washington. A no-contact order was in effect for the male subject. Male subject was intoxicated and had many cuts on his hands and chests. Ryan Lee Jones, 21, of Washington, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

A customer came in to pay for merchandise. They forgot to charge the customer for gas at the 1500 block of East Washington Street and requested officers to locate the subject and ask her to come back and pay for the gas. The Washington Police Department located the customer. She will go back and pay.

Suspicious activity

A suspicious brown vehicle was reported on the south side of the building at the 200 block of Wiley Avenue in Washington. There were no plates on the vehicle and a subject was reportedly sitting inside the vehicle for the past half hour. The Washington Police Department responded. The vehicle was gone upon the officer’s arrival.


A male subject kept calling her residence at the 200 block of East Fifth Street in Washington. She believed it was the boyfriend of the girl she has a no-contact order against. The male subject was Gordo and was calling from Sioux City. A message was left for him to call back in.

Family offense/non-violent

A caller reported that he and his girlfriend had been arguing in the 200 block of North Grant Street in Crawfordsville. She had also been drinking. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded and gave the female party a ride to another residence.


A caller reported that since Thanksgiving someone has broken into her home at the 2600 block of Nutmeg Avenue in Washington. She is missing jewelry from a lock box. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded and a report was filed.


A caller reports a Dually pickup drove through his yard at the 400 block of South Mechanic in Brighton and hit his cable TV box. The cable company was made aware of the damage.

Fire calls

A caller reported their garage was on fire at the 3000 block of 135th Street in Riverside. Flames were visible and there were two vehicles inside. Riverside Fire, Kalona Fire, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, and Alliant Energy responded. The Washington County Ambulance was placed on standby. The fire was extinguished.

Welfare check

A caller from the 800 block of North Fourth Avenue requested a check on her son at school. Washington Police Department spoke with the school counselor. There were no concerns about the safety at home. Information was relayed to the caller.

Mental subject

A caller from the 2900 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported her friend was sitting in the car and took several pills. Caller called back and advised it was in Muscatine County.
