Arrests

Travis Cole Brown, 31, of Washington was arrested Wednesday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a charge of domestic abuse assault, first offense.

Isaiah Rory Hutchinson, 19, of Washington was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 1200 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington for illegally carrying a weapon.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday morning in the 100 block of Ninth Street in Kalona reported being involved in a traffic accident involving his friend's car, a red Pontiac. There were no injuries. An officer responded. Information was exchanged. The accident occurred on private property.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington reported witnessing a traffic accident the previous night about 8:30 p.m. on the west side of the building. A maroon Honda mini van was sideswiped by a silver four-door Chevrolet Cavalier. The mini van had left front-end damage and the male suspect was a juvenile in a choir inside the building. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.

A caller Wednesday afternoon at Highway 218 and 220th Street in Ainsworth reported a vehicle hit another vehicle and continued southbound. The victim exited onto G36, and the vehicle was described as an older red car with front driver's side damage. The suspect vehicle was a blue Chevrolet Cruze and had front passenger-side damage. A State Patrol officer stopped the vehicle south of Crawfordsville on Highway 218. Damage was under $1,500. Photos were taken for future reference. An officer attempted to locate t he victim but was unable to locate.

A two-vehicle accident with minor injuries was reported Wednesday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. An officer, an ambulance, Riverside QRS and Riverside Fire all responded to the accident. Damages were over $1,500, and a state accident report was filed. Gary Jens of Muscatine was cited for failure to yield upon entering through an intersection and no insurance accident-related. There was no ambulance transport from the scene.

 

Traffic stop serious

An officer advised a vehicle stop, Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of South 13th Avenue in Washington. Michael Justin Irving, 22, of Keota was cited into court for driving under suspension, third offense.

An officer reported being at a vehicle stop Wednesday night at West Fountain Street and North Taylor Street in Brighton, because of improper license plates for the vehicle. Stacie Renee Barnett, 42, of Wayland was cited for driving under suspension, third offense, speeding 45 mph in a 35-mph zone, no proof of insurance, and operating an unregistered vehicle.

 

Traffic other

A caller Wednesday morning in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a white jeep was parked in the alley behind her vehicle and she was not able to get out. An officer responded and was unable to locate the vehicle.

An officer Wednesday morning in the 100 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported checking on several vehicles in the City of Kalona that had not been moved after the snowfall. The city had requested that a deputy check on them. The officer chalked the tires in the vehicles currently there, and planned to follow up the next day.

A caller Wednesday evening in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a vehicle in the parking lot, parked in a handicap spot without a handicap placard. The operator of the vehicle was arguing with the caller. An officer responded. The vehicle had already left the parking lot. The officer was unable to locate the subjects anywhere.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday night in the 1200 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a dog bite. A report will be filed. The dog was taken to the dog pound and will be quarantined for 10 days.

 

Burglary

A caller Wednesday morning in the 800 block of East Tyler Street in Washington reported someone broke out a window in a vehicle last night. A wallet was missing which contained $100 in cash, driver's license, permit to carry, band card and credit cards. An officer responded and the information was documented. The driver's license was entered into the system. The male subject later advised his wallet was located and returned to him. Everything was accounted for except the cash. The driver's license was canceled from the system.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a burglary from his vehicle overnight. An officer responded. The item was a Springfield XDS 45 cal. and was entered into the system.

 

Civil standby

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of North Taylor Street in Brighton requested a civil standby to get her things from her mother. An officer responded and assisted with the standby.

 

Curfew/loitering

An officer reported being out with two juveniles after curfew, Thursday morning at South Seventh Avenue and East Madison Street. An additional officer also responded. The officers transported both juveniles back to their residences. Two juveniles were cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age and were issued warnings for curfew.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of A Place in Kalona reported her ex-boyfriend had continually shown up at the apartment, threatening and harassing her. An officer spoke with the caller, who was advised on how to obtain a no-contact order.

 

Public service/contacts

An officer reported being out with a male subject going door to door, Wednesday morning at North Washington Street and West First Street in Riverside. The subject was advised to seek a peddlers permit through City Hall. The driver bypassed City Hall and continued toward Lone Tree. Johnson County was advised.

 

Runaways/missing person

A caller Thursday morning in the 600 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported his daughter had left the residence without permission. An officer spoke to the caller and advised him of some options. The officer located the juvenile at Seventh and Madison and transported her back home to her parents.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday morning in the 200 block of Schnoebelen Street in Riverside reported a suspicious message left there. An officer responded. It was a letter about something happening in the community. It was disposed of and the incident will be documented.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1600 block of South Airport Road in Washington reported two male subjects were sitting in the lobby. No lights were on at the location. Officers responded. The subjects had prior approval to be there. There was no problem.

 

Truancy

A subject Wednesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported her 17-year-old son left school without permission and might be en route to his father's residence. An officer checked that residence, and he was not there. The father agreed to call back if he did show up there.

 

Weapons violation

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a student in possession of a weapon. An officer responded. A report and charges will be filed for carrying a weapon.

 

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of North Seventh Avenue in Washington reported a possible no-contact order violation. An officer responded and was unable to locate the parties involved.

A caller Wednesday night in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported her neighbor had thrown a mattress into her yard. An officer planned to make contact with the owner of the mattress.
