Melony Mae Morse, 32, of Iowa City was arrested Thursday afternoon at Highway 218 and 192nd Street in Ainsworth on charges of possession of controlled substance, third offense – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1100 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a subject hit a pole and appeared possibly intoxicated. Officers responded. Damage was under $1,500. Driver insurance information was exchanged, and the driver had permission to leave the vehicle on the lot for the next two to three days. The driver was not intoxicated.

A caller Thursday morning in the 300 block of East Seventh Street in Washington reported a Cadillac that had been parked in the street for weeks without being moved. An officer responded and chalked the tires.

 

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a vehicle along the roadway, Thursday evening in the 2100 block of Highway 92 in Washington.

An officer reported being out with a possible disabled vehicle that appeared to be unoccupied. The officer then advised that the vehicle was occupied by a subject out of Tennessee. They got the vehicle started, and the subject went on his way.

An officer reported being out with a possible broken-down semi, Friday morning at Quince Avenue and Highway 92 in Washington. The semi was going to be on its way shortly, and there was no problem.

A caller Friday morning in the 400 block of West Boise Court in Riverside reported a vehicle that had been parked in the same area for over a month. An officer responded and will have personnel on the day shift check into the vehicle and the owner.

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Friday morning at Highway 218 and 175th Street in Riverside. The driver was tired and agreed to move along to G36.

 

Fire calls

A caller Thursday afternoon at North Benton Street and Highway 1 in Brighton reported a grass fire heading toward a tree line, not near any structures. Brighton Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

 

Civil standby

A caller Thursday night in the 500 block of 11th Street in Kalona requested a civil standby. An officer spoke with the caller, and the caller advised that he no longer needed a civil standby.

A caller Thursday night in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington requested an officer for a civil standby to retrieve some items from a residence in Washington. An officer assisted with civil standby.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

An officer reported conducting a DRE interview, Thursday evening in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. OWI charges are pending on an Iowa City subject.

 

Fraud

A caller Thursday morning in the 2400 block of Robbins Court in Washington reported fraudulent activity on his credit card. He contacted the credit card company, and they were taking care of changing information. A credit card was delivered to an address in Los Angeles, California, in the caller’s name. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported she was driving down the road in Kalona, and a male subject with whom she used to have a no-contact order showed an inappropriate gesture toward her. An officer called the reporting party and spoke with her. Documentation was made. She was to call if this continued.

 

Shoplifting

A caller Friday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a shoplifter at the store. A juvenile male was released to his mother, cited for curfew and given a trespass warning by the store.

 

Weather-related

A caller Friday morning in the 800 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman reported a large tree had fallen into the roadway, blocking both lanes of traffic, on Ninth Avenue in Wellman north of Highway 22. The City of Wellman and Alliant Energy responded for downed power lines.

 

Welfare check

A caller Thursday night in the 800 block of East Tyler Street in Washington reported his ex-wife and his 15-year-old daughter were having an argument, and he was unable to make contact. An officer made contact with all parties. There was no problem.

 

All other theft

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of West Third Street in Washington reported someone stole her Xbox. An officer responded and spoke with the caller and a possible suspect. Documentation was made at that time.

A caller Thursday evening in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington reported someone wouldn’t give her the keys to her car, and requested an officer. Officers responded.
