Arrests

Amy Nichole Vazquez, 37, of Kalona, was arrested Thursday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Washington County warrant for domestic abuse assault injury or mental illness, first offense.

 

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled blue Dodge Caravan with no license plates. It was unoccupied and was added to the system.

 

Fire calls

A caller Thursday night in the 2400 block of 560th Street SW in Kalona reported a combine on fire in the area of 560th Street and Highway 1. Kalona Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

A caller reported a building on fire, Thursday night in the 2000 block of 250th Street in Washington. The caller requested the fire department. Washington Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday morning at West Second Street and North Avenue B in Washington reported that a pitbull was in the fenced-in area at the dog park with no one around. The dog was described as a female with a gray-colored body and a white face. The dog catcher was contacted, and the dog was taken to the city pound.

A caller reported a dog bite, Thursday night in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington. An officer responded. Documentation was made for the time being. The officer planned to attempt to confirm the location of the incident and whether the dog had had its rabies inoculations.

 

Barking dog

A caller Thursday night in the 1100 block of North Second Avenue in Washington reported that every time he went out on the deck, the neighbors’ dogs were barking and trying to get at him through the fence. An officer sat in the area. No dogs barked.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Thursday morning in the 500 block of South Third Avenue in Washington reported that neighbors across the street had been screaming and yelling all morning, and requested an officer. An officer spoke with both subjects, and it was verbal only. The officer spoke with them a second time, and the female was going to be moving out during the day on Thursday. The male had left the residence.

A caller Thursday night in the 200 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported she was having a verbal disagreement with her boyfriend. The parties separated for the night.

A caller reported neighbors across the street were doing burnouts in their vehicle, Thursday night in the 200 block of 10th Avenue in Wellman. An officer responded and sat in the area. The neighbors were quiet.

Welfare check

A caller Thursday afternoon at South Avenue B and Sitler Drive in Washington requested a welfare check on a subject who hit the OnStar emergency button in a black 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. An officer located the vehicle. No one was around.

A caller requested a welfare check on a dog that had been crying for the past half hour, Thursday night at South Third Avenue and East Harrison Street in Washington. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

A caller reported identity theft and requested to speak with a deputy, Thursday morning in the 1300 block of Tulip Avenue in Riverside. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported that a female hit a young child in the parking lot. An officer responded and spoke with both parties. The subject was disciplining the child.
