Arrests

Frank Jose Acevedo IV, 24, of West Liberty, was arrested Thursday evening in the 300 block of East Fifth Street in Muscatine on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear on initial for driving while barred.

Traffic stop serious

An officer reported being at a vehicle stop, Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. A citation was issued to Deon Turrell Johnson, 27, of Washington, for driving while license under suspension, second offense.

Traffic other

A caller Thursday morning in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a red Chevrolet Silverado truck that was all over the roadway from Brighton to Washington, then ran a red stoplight. The caller requested that the officer counsel the male driver. An officer checked the nearby parking lot and around town, and was unable to locate the truck.

A caller Thursday night at Second Street and 10th Avenue in Wellman reported that his neighbor was doing burnouts on his motorcycle. An officer checked the area, and the neighbor was quiet upon the officer’s arrival.

Disabled vehicles

A deputy reported being out with a vehicle along the roadway, Thursday afternoon in the 2500 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth. No one was around. The vehicle was tagged and added to the system.

Fire calls

A caller Thursday night in the 2700 block of 280th Street in Washington reported that his house was possibly on fire. The caller saw smoke but could not see flames. Officers, an ambulance, Ainsworth Fire and QRS, Crawfordsville Fire, Washington Fire, Alliant Energy, and Red Cross responded.

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday morning in the 3200 block of Highway 1 in Brighton reported that several cows were out on the highway. Contact was made with the owner, who was getting them corralled. An officer responded to assist.

A caller Thursday morning in the 2600 block of Nutmeg Avenue in Washington reported that a brown-and-white horse was loose again and on their property. An officer responded. A written warning was issued to the horse’s owner. The horse was still loose, and he was unable to locate it. The owner was advised to begin looking and to retrieve it.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of West Monroe Street in Washington reported guinea pigs living under the front porch of the residence. An officer responded. The resident was not home, but the officer did speak with the homeowner, who intended to make contact with the resident and tell them that if there were any more, they needed to go to the animal shelter.

A caller Thursday night at First and Prost in Richland reported that horses were running through town in Rubio. An officer responded. Three horses were loose because of a bad fence. The owner was located and was not in the area. A citation was issued to Karey Greiner, of Rubio, for allowing animals to run at large.

Civil standby

A caller Thursday morning in the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that her ex-boyfriend had some of her belongs and kept contacting her, and requested a civil standby. An officer responded. The male subject advised that the items he did have he dropped off the previous night. The other items went to Goodwill. They were both advised to have no further contact with each other.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Thursday morning in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington requested to speak with an officer in reference to a few incidents that had occurred on the property. An officer responded. No vandalism occurred. The caller was just requesting that the juveniles be spoken to.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1000 block of Fifth Street in Wellman reported being harassed by a subject from Washington. An officer spoke with both parties. The subject was advised not to have any further contact with the caller, and she stated that she understood.

Runaways/missing person

An elderly female was reported missing, Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of highways 1 and 92 North in Washington. She was wearing dark-colored knit slacks and a light-colored short-sleeved shirt. She had white hair and wore glasses, and walked with a limp. Officers and an ambulance responded. She was located in the 2400 block of West Main Street and was returned.

Suspicious activity

Suspicious activity was reported, Thursday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. The report is under investigation.

Welfare check

A caller Thursday morning in the 700 block of Third Street in Wellman requested a welfare check on a subject who lived in Wellman.

The caller had not been able to contact him since Sunday. An officer responded and was advised to disregard.

She called back and said the subject made contact, and he was fine.

All other theft

A caller Thursday night in the 900 block of South Third Avenue in Washington reported that a yard ornament was stolen. The ornament was shaped like a smaller-size man. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

All other offenses

A caller Thursday morning in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported an issue at a neighboring household.

An officer responded. Siblings were upset that they had to baby-sit their younger brother while their mother was at work and their father was not around.
