Bob Gerot, age 89, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017, at Halcyon House in Washington following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

A service to celebrate the life of Bob was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Herb Yoder and Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Visitation began at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family received friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Interment took place at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the United Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Project. Online condolences may be sent for Bob's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Bob was born August 22, 1928, in Lone Tree, Iowa, the son of Roy and Laura (Windess) Gerot. His mother died when he was six years old and Isabelle Eden later became his stepmother. Bob spent his early years on a farm near Riverside, Iowa, later moving to a farm near Ainsworth. He graduated from Ainsworth High School. On January 19, 1952, Bob was united in marriage to Peggy Koehler at the Presbyterian Church in Ainsworth. They started farming south of Cotter, Iowa, and in 1958, moved to the family farm south of Ainsworth. He served in the Army National Guard for several years.

Bob served on several boards through the years including the Highland Community School Board for twelve years, Eastern Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative Board for 17 years, and was an elder in the United Presbyterian Church. In 1985, Bob was named Iowa Master Pork Producer. Upon retirement from farming, Bob and Peggy enjoyed several years of antiquing and refinishing furniture.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Gerot of Washington; children, Sharon (Mike) Dautremont of Robins, Nancy (Jay) Greene of Ainsworth, Laurie (Scott) Pemberton of Washington, and Mike (Carla) Gerot of Clive. He was Grandpa to Brittany (Joe) Elmquist of Audubon, Wes (Jen) Dautremont of Cedar Rapids, Bradee Greene of Newhall, Stacia (Aaron) Walker of Cedar Rapids, Taryn (Kyle) Collins of Crawfordsville, Kiley (Andy) Roder of Kalona, and Matthew Pemberton of Washington, Iowa. He was also Great Grandpa Bob to ten adorable great-grandkids: Lane, Leyton and Rees Elmquist, Jack and Gavin Dautremont, Cora and Lila Walker, Emery and Kasen Collins, and Bo Roder.
