Savage Cobras fall at top-ranked Regina

IOWA CITY — Senior quarterback Mark Ward threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead top-ranked Iowa City Regina to a 49-7 win over Sigourney-Keota on Friday night.

Ward was 6-for-7 passing for 179 yards for the Regals (9-0, 6-0 Class 1A District 6). He threw a 97-yard touchdown pass to senior Mike Donovan and a 25-yard scoring pass to senior Matt Streb. Junior Riley Dixon rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Junior quarterback Luke Lyle’s 10-yard touchdown run was the only score for the Savage Cobras (4-5, 3-3 District 6), who totaled just 109 yards of total offense.

Sigourney-Keota will travel to No. 10 Maquoketa Valley (8-1) on Wednesday night for the first round of the Class 1A playoffs.
