Savor starts Saturday

By David Hotle | Jan 20, 2014

While the Savor event, which gives people the opportunity to try some of Washington’s signature food, has previously been held in the winter and spring, the only one scheduled this year will be held Saturday.
From 5 to 9 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to sample $3 appetizer and entree items from five downtown restaurants. Three other downtown businesses will include live music and specials. Main Street Washington sponsors the event, which is entering its sixth year.
“This is the slowest time of year for restaurants and businesses,” Main Street Washington director Sarah Sadrakula said. “It can be cold, but it is very nice to open these restaurants, do some special events and give a simple activity for the community to do on a cold Saturday night.”
Slow Down and Savor Washington is scheduled to run from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Restaurants offering food specials include Xtreme Smokehouse and Grill; Panda Palace; Dino’s Pizza and Steakhouse; Frontier; and Taste of China. Live music and special events will be held at Dodici’s Shop, The Coffee Corner and JP’s 207.
Sadrakula said that because the event is only being held in the winter, Main Street Washington has tried to make it a little bigger than it has been in the past.
