IOWA CITY — Second-ranked Iowa City Regina scored three second-half goals to defeat No. 11 IMS 3-0 on Tuesday evening.

IMS hung tough against the Regals in the first half as the back line of Justin Boller, Cody Miller, Jameson Lammer and Kirby Shetler shut down numerous Regina scoring chances. Those which did make it through were snagged by goalie Joel Shetler, and the match remained scoreless at halftime.

As the second half opened, Regina put even more pressure on the IMS defense, but the back line continued to hold strong. Finally, 14 minutes into the second half, the Regals finally slipped one into the net on a long shot that deflected off of another player before finding its way into the goal.

The Regals (4-0) added two more goals in the match’s final eight minutes to account for the final tally.

IMS (9-3) travels to Highland for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference match today at 5 p.m.
