Senior awarded national P.E.O. scholarship

Lauren Carter, Washington High School Class of 2013, has been awarded the prestigious P.E.O. STAR Scholarship. She was chosen as one of 302 recipients out of 1,961 applications submitted, based on her excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success.

This award will be presented at Class Night, Wednesday, May 22, at the Washington Community Theater at 7 pm. by Millie Youngquist, P.E.O. Chapter OC Scholarship chair.

Lauren is the daughter of John and Kim Carter and was recommended for this award by Chapter OC of Washington. Lauren will attend Iowa State University where she has plans to study architectural design.

The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship is a $2,500 award open to young women who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or Canada and who are graduating seniors at the time of application. A student must be recommended by a P.E.O. Chapter.
