Washington County 4-H County Council sponsored its sixth-annual Washington County Spring Preview Cattle Show on Saturday, April 19. The show was an Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association-sanctioned show held at the Washington County Fairgrounds. One hundred-seven youth from across the state exhibited 141 head of cattle.

The supreme champion breeding heifer title went to Chloe Van Vliet of Otley, with a Mainetainer heifer. The reserve champion breeding heifer went to Avery Bennett of Richland, with a Maine heifer.

In the market beef division, supreme champion went to Hagen Fouch of Pleasantville, with a Charolais steer. The reserve champion market beef went to Tanner Curtin of Oxford with a Maine steer.

The cattle show was planned by the Washington County 4-H County Council with the help of the 4-H Youth Committee. Youth volunteers assisted with setup, check-in, ring help, announcing, awards, food booth and cleanup. The event was made possible by the generous support of local businesses and families.

County Council is in the planning stages of a new facility to be built on the fairgrounds with their proceeds from the cattle show that will benefit all visitors to the fairgrounds.
