By Bill Gatchel | Jul 07, 2017

Five Mid-Prairie sports teams have earned awards from the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union based on the teams’ grade-point averages.

The awards are calculated based on all athletes who are out for the sport in grades 9-12. From spring sports, the girls golf, girls soccer and girls track teams earned a Distinguished State Award.

The girls golf team had a 3.47 GPA. The girls soccer was a 3.48 and girls track was 3.62. Earning an Excellence State Award were boys track and girls softball. Both teams’ GPAs were 3.19.

To earn the Excellence Award, the teams needed to achieve a combined GPA of 3.0 to 3.24. Those earning the Distinguished Award had to have a combined GPA of 3.25 or above.
