Stewart students invited to meet their teacher

By David Hotle | Aug 09, 2017

As summer draws to a close and students and teachers are preparing to head back to classes, Stewart Elementary is offering students a sneak peek at the coming school year by giving students a chance to meet the person who will be instructing them during the coming school year.

The annual “Meet the Teacher” night will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 in the school. Students will get the chance to bring their supplies to their new classrooms, set up, meet the teacher and other class members, and learn more about what they can expect during the coming year.

“it is always just a really fun night,” Stewart principal Adam Miller said. “They can tour the classrooms, see some of the friends that will be in their class, and just get them feeling more comfortable to come back to school and just get them excited for the school year.”

Miller said parents are also invited to the meet the teacher night as well as brothers and sisters. He said this is a good chance for family to check out the school.

This year, Stewart will have three new instructors due to the expansion of the preschool, Miller said. He said every teacher at the school last year is returning and the three new instructors are additions to the staff.

“With the beginning of the school year starting, it is a great way to be part of the Stewart community and get a feel of what we do here, get kids prepared for the school year and get them off on the right foot,” Miller said.
