Supervisors to meet

The Washington County Supervisors will meet at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, at the courthouse.

Items on the agenda icnlude: opportunity to purchase Federation Bank building, personnel change requests for the sheriff’s office and public health, Class B beer liquor license for Washington Chamber of Commerce, Iowa DOT Living Roadway Trust Fund application for injection sprayer, personnel change request for secondary roads, Washington County Secondary Roads 2018 fiscal yearDOT budgetment amendment and acknowledgment of mower and tractor purchase.

Trump plan to cut money for Moline to Iowa City rail service

Funds could disappear after 'long stalled' project

The old train depot south of Burlington Street in Iowa City could be brought back into use if an Amtrak route from Iowa City to Chicago is ever realized. Hopes for that connection were dealt a blow this week when the Trump administration officials announced they were taking back $47 million set aside for a passenger rail connection between Moline and Iowa City.
