Other members of the 2013 Homecoming Court are: Demitra Giardino, daughter of Yota and Greg Giardino; Chayse Jaspering, daughter of Lori and Dean Jaspering; Marisa Powers, daughter of Lauren and David Powers; and Mallory Van Winkle, daughter of Linda and Duane Van Winkle. At 1:10 p.m. Friday high school students were released to the varsity gym for a pep assembly. At 1:55 p.m. students were released for the day. Coronation of the king and queen was from 2 to 2:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. The parade was scheduled to begin at 2:40 p.m., ending at Central Park, where the pep rally was to be held from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. The homecoming game against the Williamsburg Raiders begins at 5 p.m. with the freshman game at Case Field. The varsity game starts at 7:30 p.m. Homecoming festivities will be between games.
With a dark sky and mists of rain in the air this morning, Washington High School Principal Erik Buchholz said there were no plans to reschedule the parade if the rain worsens. He said that in the past 20 years the parade had only been rained out once. He said that if it is raining too hard to have the parade, the event will just be canceled.
