Three Demon champs at tourney

Photo by: Steve Green Sophomore Michael Ellingson attempts to pin his opponent. He finished the Pekin Tournament 3-1 with three pins. He was pinned in his fourth match. All of his bouts lasted less than three minutes.

Seniors Fletcher Green and Tristan Pohren and junior Alex Gonzalez all took home first place at the Pekin tournament, Satuday.
The team finished second at the tournament behind Albia. The Demons had 22 combined pins.
Green scored 19.5 team points with a pin and technical fall win in the 120-weight class.
Pohren went 4-0 for 18 points in the 138-pound class. He had three pins and one decision in final bout over Albia’s Blake Lawless.
Gonzalez went 3-0 with two decisions and a pin in the 152-weight class.
Senior Tanner Knupp went undefeated on the day with a decision and pin in the 160-pound class.
Junior Brad Skubal of the 195-weight class, freshman Karlton Skubal at 170, senior Austin Latcham at 170, sophomore Michael Ellingson,  and 132-pound freshman Trey Van Weelden each finished with one loss and a winning record.
Freshman Andrew Waite, freshman Kyle Anderson, freshman Austin Hazelett and senior Kyle Collier all finished 1-1.
Washington has its first dual home meet of the season Thursday against Fairfield and Ottumwa at 6 p.m.
