Training to be held for pork producers next month

Feb 23, 2018

WAPELLO — The Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will offer training for pork producers and others who need certification in the Transport Quality Assurance program. One TQA certification session has been set for March 20 in Louisa County.

Louisa County office manager Michele Hemphill said the session will be held at the Louisa County Extension Office at 317 Van Buren St. in Wapello, and will be taught by Tom Miller, extension swine specialist.

“The TQA session will run from 1:30 to 4 p.m.,” Hemphill said. “Anyone who plans to attend should let us know as soon as possible to ensure that we have adequate materials for everyone.”

Cost for this certification program is $25 per person and is payable at the door. To preregister, contact the Louisa County Extension Office at 319-523-2371 or email Miller at tmiller@iastate.edu.

TQA was introduced by the Pork Checkoff as a quality assurance program designed specifically for transporters, producers and handlers of pigs. It encourages dedication to transporting and delivering the highest quality, safest pork product possible to remain competitive in the global market.
