Two new school board members were sworn in along with one returning member at the Washington School Board meeting Wednesday evening.

Before the board members were sworn in board president Eric Turner thanked the two leaving the board.

“Dana [McDole], I need to thank you for your service to the district the last three years,” Turner said. “It’s a big commitment — four years [actually], so we know you will still be supporting Washington Schools.”

Patty Roe, who wasn’t present at the meeting, was noted for her 12 to 13 years or service.

“Heidi [Vittetoe] can attest to this — she came on at a pretty challenging time,” Turner said, “and she was part of a collective group that changed trust with the school board and was very instrumental in a lot of positive things.”

Catherine Glinsmann was elected as the District No. 2 representative replacing McDole, Jason Hamilton was elected as the at-large representative taking Patty Roe’s spot as she chose not to run for re-election, Heidi Vittetoe will remain as the District No. 5 representative.

The president and vice president were also elected.

Turner was the only nomination for president. He was re-elected as president.

Vittetoe was the only nomination for vice president and was elected.

The board also voted to continue holding its meetings the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the central office except for December and June when they’re held in Brighton.
