WAYLAND — WACO only had three wrestlers compete at its home tournament on Saturday, but two of them took second place in their respective weight classes at the Warrior Invitational.

Senior Skyler Miller took second place at 220 pounds. After receiving a first-round bye, Miller pinned Davis County’s Colton Kincart and then won a 10-7 decision over New London’s Kyle Davis to reach the finals. But second-ranked Daniel Gaffney of Iowa City Regina pinned Miller in 33 seconds in the finals match.

Junior Cey Saeugling also lost to a ranked opponent in the finals at 160 pounds. Saeugling received a bye in the first round, pinned Pekin’s Brad Beam and won an 8-3 decision over Davis County’s Ryan Fullenkamp en route to the finals. But Saeugling went up against top-ranked Tyler Foubert of Tri-County in the finals, and he got pinned in 45 seconds.

WACO senior Tommy Morris lost both of his matches at 170 pounds. After receiving a first-round bye, Morris was pinned by Davis County’s Logan Boas, who went on to win the 170-pound title. In the consolation bracket, Morris lost a 7-0 decision to Moravia’s Alex Cloyed.

WACO scored 49 points and took ninth place at its home tournament. Davis County edged Iowa City Regina by two points to win the tournament.
