WAYLAND — The Iowa State Patrol reported today that a single vehicle accident had occurred Aug. 1 on Highway 218 in rural Washington County.
According to the report, a 200 Honda Accord driven by Kyaw Kyaw of St. Joseph, Mo., was traveling southbound on Highway 218 at about 5:42 p.m. Aug. 1 when the vehicle last control. The report said the vehicle crossed the median and the northbound lanes, coming to rest in a bean field on the east side of the roadway. The report said that Kyaw then drove through the beans, belonging to Benji Roth of Silver Lake Farms Corp. of Wayland, and returned to the roadway. The report said that the first action was evasive action — swerving and panic braking. The second action was crossing the centerline and the median.
According to the report, the vehicle had been going 65 mph and had suffered damage on the rear. The driver was uninjured and had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
The report said Kyaw was ticketed for failure to maintain control.
