Wapello man sentenced for production of child pornography

DAVENPORT — A Wapello man was sentenced to 30 years in prision for the production of child pornography.

According to United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum, Jack Lee Coleman, 65, of Wapello, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for production of child pornography,

Coleman was sentenced July 9 by United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger. Coleman was also ordered to serve five years supervised release following his imprisonment, pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund, and comply with the sex offender registry requirements upon release.

On Feb. 2, Coleman pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography.

The investigation began in 2016 when a minor victim disclosed being sexually abused by Coleman. During the investigation, a computer belonging to Coleman was seized and examined. The computer contained nude images of five minor children produced by a hidden camera placed in the bathroom by Coleman. The computer also contained child pornography.

The matter was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
