Warrior boys and girls place highly

MT. PLEASANT – The WACO High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams participated in a coed meet with six other schools last night.
The Warrior girls placed second in their field with 115 team points. The Warrior boys took third place with 106 points.
Rosemary Skriver won the girls’ high jump competition as she cleared the bar set at 4 feet, 10 inches. Jennie Greene followed Skriver’s example, recording the best distance in the long jump at 15-11 ½. The girls’ 4x100-meter relay finished first in 54.1 seconds.
The girls’ 4x200-meter relay and sprint medley also placed first in 1 minute, 55.2 seconds and 2:05.71. The boys’ 4x800-meter relay was first in 9:22.6. The 4x440-meter hurdle relay placed first in 1:02.15.
In the 4x400-meter hurdle relay, WACO took second with a time of 1:14.01. Dylan Carlson was second in the 100-meter dash in 12.01. Bryce Achen had a second-place time of 24.46 in the 200-meter dash.
Braden Blake was second in the 800-meter run in 2:17.67. The boys’ 100 relay and distance medley placed second in 46.03 and 4:22.45.
Carlson and Achen were second and third in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.67 and 16.66.
Cheyanne Sedlacek had a third-place time of 13:01.92 in the 3,000-meter run. Kasey Sutton took third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:18.64. The girls’ distance medley was third in 5:20.35.
Jorge Chacon finished third in the 400 hurdles in 1:03.83.
WACO had a pair of girls finish third and fourth in the 200. Halle Kissell finished in 31.16 and Cierra McArtor came in 0.3 behind Kissell.
The Warriors also had a third and fourth place pair in the discus and shot put. Mayme Hinh and Leah McElhinney registered discus throws of 84-5 and 74-4 and shot put throws of 27-7 ¼ and 26-9.
Gaby Wagler took fourth place in the 800 in 3:00.23. Jalyssa Jepson was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.8. Achen took fourth in the long jump at 18-8.
Blake and Chacon placed fourth and fifth in the 400-meter dash in 57.3 and 57.83.
Brett Heseltien placed fifth in the 100 in 12.35. Cornell Hulme registered a fifth-place time of 24.96 in the 200. Jackson Roth was fifth in the 800 in 2:23.34.
Blake also placed fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:15.57. Josh Shumaker was fifth in the discus at 113-2. Tucker Janecek took fifth in the shot put at 35-10 ¼. The boys’ 4x400-meter relay placed fifth in 4:09.05.
Skriver finished sixth in the 100 in 14.9. Hulme was sixth in the long jump at 17-10 ½. The boys’ 200 relay placed sixth in 1:49.43.
The girls visit Washington on Friday. The boys will be at home on the same day.

Girls’ 100-meter dash – Chloe Butler, seventh, 15.46.
100-meter hurdles – Erika Leichty, eighth, 23.23.
Girls’ long jump – McArtor, seventh, 13-3 ½.
Boys’ discus – Joe Mitchell, 11th, 86-9. Ben Herzinger, 14th, 72-8.
Boys’ shot put – Shumaker, ninth, 34-2 ½.
