As the Washington baseball team gets ready to play in a doubleheader tonight, the boys are coming home after winning one of two games at Mediapolis Friday, June 23.

In the first game, Washington scored two runs in the top of the third inning and put on one more in the fifth while keeping Mediapolis from scoring until the sixth, when one run would score.

That would be it for Mediapolis as Washington won the first game 3-1.

Kole Hinrichsen got the win as he gave up the one run in six innings on the mound. He allowed two hits while walking three and striking out five. Crossing the plate for the Demons were Michael Gier, Ryan Loy and Jacob Hall.

Washington’s only run in the second game came in the first inning when Loy would score.

Mediapolis would dominate the entire game as they put up three runs in the first inning. They added two more in the second, put up five in the fourth and scored the final run in the fifth to get the game by mercy rule.

Chase McDole took the loss for Washington as he gave up five runs on three hits while walking two and striking out two during his 1 1/3 innings on the mound.

Relief pitcher Erik Murphy allowed five runs to score on five hits after walking two and striking out two during two innings on the mound.

Cale Hobschiedt pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up one run on two hits while walking two and striking out one.

The boys take their 13-8 record on the line Monday, June 26, as they are host to Keokuk for doubleheader action starting at 5:30 p.m.
