The Washington County Hospital Board of Directors approved the purchase of Family Medicine Clinic of Washington from Mercy - Iowa City during its regular meeting today.

According to the motion, the deal with Mercy will include the land, building and other practice assets. The deal is "subject to acceptable resolution of minor negotiating points."

Washington County Hospital CEO Dennis Hunger said that he believes the transition will go smoothly and that patients with existing appointments will be able to go to them as scheduled. He hopes there will be little change in the average operations of the clinic.

While he is unable to disclose the amount which the clinic was purchased for, he said that it was a good deal for the hospital and that taxpayers will see no increase as a result of the purchase.
