Washington eighth-grade boys win, lose and draw

The Washington eighth-grade boys’ basketball team won a game, lost a game and tied with visiting Edward Stone on Jan. 17.

The Demon A team defeated Edward Stone 36-32. Bryce Sinn scored 13 points to lead Washington (3-0), and he also had five steals and two rebounds. Mason Rich and Michael Gier added six points apiece. Rich also had four steals, three rebounds and an assist in the contest, and Gier had five rebounds, a steal and an assist. Drake Brezina, Tanner Coleman and John Dillon chipped in three points apiece, and Noah Enfield had two. Brezina also had three assists, three rebounds and a steal in the game, and Enfield had three steals. Dillon had three rebounds and a pair of steals, and Coleman had two steals, two rebounds and an assist. Collin Zear also contributed a rebound.

“We out-worked them,” Washington head coach Mark Berhow said. “Our press and our play at the end of the game was the difference. I am proud of how we are improving.”

The Washington B team lost to Edward Stone 22-17. John Sands scored eight points to lead the Demons (2-1), and he also had a steal. Coleman added three points and two assists. Zear, Dillon and Aaron Vittetoe chipped in two points apiece. Vittetoe also had three rebounds and three steals in the game, and Dillon also grabbed three rebounds. Zear had two rebounds and a steal. Michael Dillon contributed three rebounds, and Ryan Loy had two rebounds, a steal and an assist.

The Washington C team tied with Edward Stone 10-10 after an overtime period. Matthew Wheeler scored four points to lead the Demons (0-1-1), and he also had three rebounds and a steal in the contest. Michael Dillon had two points to go with four rebounds and a steal, and Sands had two points, three rebounds and an assist. Jack Carter chipped in one point and two rebounds, and Joey Deidrich had one point and one board. Dylan Kinman and Reid Basten both grabbed a pair of rebounds, and Kinman also had two steals.
