The Washington girls played at Moravia Thursday, May 4, in an invitational against 11 teams.

Washington finished nine strokes behind second place Mt. Pleasant in the meet to take third place.

Sarah Nacos was the top individual scorer for Washington, with an 86.

Megan Strabala had an 89, Allison Vogel shot a 102 and Carly Burlingame had a 114, for an overall team score of 391.

“Our scores were a little higher than in the past, but not a lot,” said coach Leonard Kull of the meet.

“Regarding the individual players, “Sarah lost her swing for a while, but she says it’s back now.

“Megan Strabala had her career round, which was really nice. She should be commended on how well she played.”

The challenges for the day came from two different teams as well as the weather.

“Centerville had an excellent squad and Mt. Pleasant did as well they had done all year,” Kull says. “We were challenged quite a bit about the course and the wind as well. We look rebound as we went to Waukee at Lake Panorama today.”
