Washington JV girls fall to Solon

Dec 06, 2012

The Washington junior varsity girls’ basketball team had a poor shooting night on Saturday night, falling to Solon 50-39.

The Demons (2-3) shot 20 percent from the field and went 13-for-34 from the free-throw line.

“The story of the game was free throws,” Washington head coach Jay Zieglowsky said. “We were 13-for-34, and they were 23-for-37. We lost by 11 and they made 10 more free throws than we did.”

Sophomore Macy Marek drained three 3-pointers in the game and led Washington with nine points. Junior Dema Giardino added six points, and junior Grace Redlinger had five points, four rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Dylann Schluetter had four points to go with eight rebounds and two steals. Sophomores Elle Van Gundy and Rachael Hall scored three points apiece. Van Gundy grabbed five rebounds, and Hall had four. Junior Addie Shive, sophomore Makenna Goodwin, sophomore Sydney Hoffman and freshman Addie Pacha chipped in two points apiece, and freshman McKayla Miller scored one point.
