Washington Middle School wrestlers compete against Fort Madison and Ottumwa

Jan 22, 2014

WASHINGTON – The Washington Middle School wrestling team hosted Fort Madison and Ottumwa on Tuesday, Jan. 21. The team went 24-7 in its 31 bouts with 18 of those victories coming by way of a pin.
“After a long break it was good to get the boys back on the mat. As a team they wrestled well. Every wrestler had at least one win and most of them won all of their matches,” Washington Middle School head coach Shawn Ellingson said.
Tanner Murphy, Ikerd Garrett, Ben Bohr, Tristan Westphal-Edwards, David Hora and Brennan Murphy all went 2-0 on the day.
Colton Anderson, Cody Mellinger, Keith Kiowa, Dylan Farmer and Andres Gutierrez all won their lone match of the event.
Logan Escher, Walker Ikerd, Sam Donnolly, Clayton Pacha, Jacob Hall, Cade Pohren and Tony Torres all went 1-1 in their matches.
The middle school is on the mat again on Tuesday, Jan. 28 in Fort Madison where they will face the host school, Keokuk and Mt. Pleasant.
