Washington seventh-grade girls split at Edward Stone

BURLINGTON — The Washington seventh-grade girls’ basketball team won the A game at Edward Stone on Jan. 17, but lost the B game.

The Demon A team held off Edward Stone for a 35-33 victory. Morgan Brinning had 15 points, seven steals and two rebounds to lead Washington (1-1), and Sarah Nacos added nine points, four rebounds and three steals. Megan Mitchell contributed seven points and three rebounds. Brooke Stout and Reagan Caffery chipped in two points apiece, and Stout also had five rebounds and two steals. Kristen Twinam had two steals and a rebound in the game, and Megan Strabala had a steal and a rebound. Allison Vogel came up with a steal, and Jessica Hora hauled in a rebound.

The Washington B team fell to Edward Stone 21-8. Hora, Caffery, Makenna Rich and Tania Melendez scored two points apiece for the Demons (0-2). Hora and Rich both pulled down three rebounds apiece, while Rich and Caffery both had a steal. Mackenzie Beam and Erin Mills both grabbed three rebounds apiece, while Baylee Stalder and Jackie Nunez had two apiece. Vogel, Twinam, Michaela Hoffman, Alexis Edwards, Micah Olson, Shaley Andrew and Breanna Brinning each chipped in a rebound. Twinam and Beam both had a steal.
