Chapter Iowa J of National T.T.T. Society met at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Wayland Community Center.

"Sword of Gold" was sung and President Lori Messer called the meeting to order. Parliamentarian Judith Hueholt read Characteristics of a Strong Chapter from the National T.T.T. Society Handbook and President Messer followed up with her own comments.

Recording Secretary Georgia Fort took roll with 18 members present. Minutes of the Feb. 3 meeting were read and approved.

It was noted a tip night will be held on March 11 and all were encouraged to go eat and encourage others to attend. The chapter will do a tip night in Washington on March 24 also.

Funds raised will go toward sending four selected girls to camp this year. It was also noted that the chapter needs to send a larger amount to the National Project Fund to pay for the expenses incurred with each girl sent to camp. Chapter A of Washington, D.C., is going to provide the funds to pay for one girl’s expense to the National Project Fund.

Jeanne Davis, treasurer, gave her report.

Cindy Seberg mentioned the 70th wedding anniversary on March 20 of Louise and Glen Seberg. Louise is a member of Iowa J. Cards will reach Glen and Louise at 710 E. Burky Lane in Mt. Pleasant.

Joni Huisenga reported that four girls have been selected and have happily accepted being sent to Camp Wyoming this June.

Motion carried for Jeanne Davis to pursue a grant possibility. Joni noted that Erica Stauffer will also be working on a possible grant.

Some members wanting to work a tip night at a restaurant in May were given approval. Approval was also given for a group to sell PH cards as fundraisers for camp girl expenses. The chapter pays a sum to the National Project in the amount it costs National to provide the week of camp at the location for this chapter’s girls. The chapter also provides all the clothes and supplies to each girl for camp.

Joni Huisenga and Georgia Fort were elected delegates to Iowa State Convention on April 11-12 and Lori Messer will attend as an alternate. Six other chapter members also plan to attend.

Susan Mast gave a report on the preparations to serve the WACO National Honor Society Tea. Linda Groff and Lorrie Conrad will assist Susan with serving. Others will help with the setup. Iowa J will also have their regular April meeting that evening, April 7, at the Community Room at 7 p.m.

Motion carried to have one table at the Market Place at State Convention. Items can be taken to Lori Messer or Judith Hueholt by noon on April 10 as those cars will be leaving for convention that afternoon.

Motion carried to dispense with having refreshments at our regular business meetings.

Meeting adjourned with the Closing Creed. President Messer thanked Willa Wilson and Linda Groff for the refreshments and seasonal decorations.
