Wildcats wallop WACO

COLUMBUS JUNCTION — Columbus belted 14 hits as it defeated WACO 11-2 in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division softball game on Friday night.

Seniors Megan Pretz, senior Caitlin Chaney and sophomore Torie Johnston each went 3-for-4 to lead the Wildcats (2-2, 2-1 SEISC North) at the plate. Pretz had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, while Chaney and Johnston both drove in one run apiece. Junior Heidi Duttlinger had a pair of hits in the game. Sophomore Kelsey Pretz had a triple and drove in two runs, and senior Shayne Van Auken had a double and two RBIs. Junior Brooklyn Milder also chipped in a hit.

The Pretz sisters combined to throw a no-hitter for Columbus. Megan Pretz allowed one unearned run over three innings to pick up the win. She struck out six batters and walked five. Kelsey Pretz also allowed one unearned run in four innings of work. She struck out four batters and walked five.
