June 19, 1929 - March 10, 2018

Wilford Leonard Greiner, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Halcyon House in Washington.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Troy Richmond, Fr. Bernie Weir and Fr. Mark Spring officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church, where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 4:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Wilford was born June 19, 1929 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Clara K. (Hammes) Greiner. He farmed west of Washington on the farm where he was born and raised, retiring in 2008. He was united in marriage to Rita Sobaski on February 11, 1950 at St. Joseph Church in East Pleasant Plain. They were married 68 years.

Wilford was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Farm Bureau and Iowa Pork Producers Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and attending sporting events. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Greiner of Washington, Iowa; children: Richard (Jo) Greiner, Dave (Carol) Greiner, Dan (Katy) Greiner, Fred (Donna) Greiner and Tim (Mary) Greiner, all of Washington, Iowa; Larry (Crystal) Greiner of Swisher, Iowa; and Mary Yeutsy (Gary Votroubek) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Joseph Anthony; brothers, Carl, Howard, Sylvester, Harold, Father Charles and Don Greiner; and sisters, Sister Delores Greiner, Harriet Adam, Florence Sobaski and Sister Marietta Greiner
